The focus of the tour is a mixture of excellent XC style riding with plenty of downhill runs to play on as well. For the hardcore downhill riders we offer an optional day trip (June to September only) to the fantastic downhill center of Vallnord in Andorra, complete with chairlifts - full body armor required. We offer the use of our own hardtail hire bike, but for the enthusiast we recommend bringing your own bike.
The Font Romeu area is a Mountain Biker's paradise with many trails to chose from to suit all levels. The riding area is partly made up by the Font Romeu ski resort that offers the chance to ride the pistes. A large component of the rides are also made up of the 'Nordic skiing' routes that are well signed, offering literally hundreds of kilometers of top quality cross country riding. Additionally, many of the rides have well marked 'liasons' which allow two or more routes to join up, making for a great day out of riding in the Pyrenees.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Girona. Transfer to our accommodation in the village of Font Romeu in the French Pyrenees.
Day 2: Mountain bike ride - Single track and forest trails through the Pine forests of the 'Pla de Barres' and 'Pyrennes 2000' ski areas.
Day 3: Mountain bike ride - Bolquere to the citadel of 'Mont Louis' and then through the pine forests of the ski areas of 'Pyrenees 2000' and 'Col del Pam'.
Day 4: Mountain bike ride - Riding the ski areas of 'Gallinera', 'Les Airelles' and 'La Calme'. Option to go to the 'Downhill center' of Vallnord in Andorra (June to September).
Day 5: Mountain bike ride - Riding the Nordic ski area of 'La Calme' and to the stunning mountain setting of 'Lake Bouillouses'.
Day 6: Mountain bike ride - The ski area of 'La Calme' and to the peak of 'Pic des Mauroux' for amazing views over the Cerdagne plane.
Day 7: Departure to Girona.
