This tour takes you to Koh Chang National Marine Park, 325 km southeast of Bangkok. This area contains 47 beautiful islands together forming an unspoiled, picturesque archipelago – a place you will experience up close on a rebuilt fishing boat, the Peka. The setup is simple but the experience is magnificent. Experience the serenity of sailing between the small, palmed-fringed islands and let the beauty of the scenery and the silence help you relax like never before.

The captain knows the waters inside and out and casts anchor at his own secret swimming holes where the swimming and snorkeling are particularly good.In the evening the boat will stop at a selected beach, where you can enjoy the dazzling sunsets splash incredible
colors across the ocean horizon.

After four days of sailing, you will go ashore at either Koh Kood or Koh Chang – depending on weather conditions, which vary immensely in this area. On the islands there are plenty of activities in store for you. You can rent a scooter and explore the mountains, swim at beautiful waterfalls or simply relax on the beaches with a good book and barbecue the sunset away. Please note! If you wish, you can arrange to go directly to the mainland at the end of the boat tour. Inquire in advance.

Tour Itinerary:

Days 1 – 3: Bangkok – Koh Chang National Marine Park. Departure from your hotel in Bangkok at 6:00 am by car or minibus to the bus station, from where you will go by first class air con bus to Trat. Arrival is at around noon, where the captain and his wife will meet you and take you to the small fishing village of Laem Ngop – a short ride of 20 minutes. At the dock, the live-aboard boat, the Peka, is anchored and ready to head out to sea. While you are having lunch on deck, the captain will set a leisurely south-easterly course.

This will give you all the time you need to experience the beautiful scenery and the flying fish, which skip across the surface of the water alongside the boat. As the day warms up in the afternoon, the deep blue waters become too inviting to resist going for a swim. The captain knows this all to well and will cast anchor at one of his swimming spots for a little dip.

On the days that follow, you will have every opportunity to dive into the sea. Every time the captain calls on his small, selected islands and bays, where snorkeling is best, you can jump right in. There is free snorkeling gear available on the boat, but you are welcome to bring your own. When you are not in the water, you’ll able to enjoy the sun on the deck or read a good book at your leisure.

Every Sea Safari is different, since it is the captain who decides the exact route during the trip, based on wind and weather conditions in the area. Some of the places you are likely to visit include Koh Wai, Koh Rang, Koh Nok and Koh Kradat. On some of the islands, you’ll able to go to shore to visit sleepy fishing villages or take a stroll on the vast, secluded beaches.

In the evening, the boat anchors for the night in a quiet bay, where you can go to shore to enjoy the spectacular sunset over the sea while having a beer or a soda. During the trip all meals, fresh fruit, drinking water, tea and coffee are included in the price. Cold beer and soda are for sale on the boat.

Days 4 - 7: Koh Kood or Koh Chang. At around noon on the 4th day of the safari you will reach your final destination: Koh Kood or Koh Chang. Koh Kood is the lesser developed of the two islands. Koh Chang, on the other hand, offers more diving trips and a larger selection of restaurants and bars. On Koh Kood, for instance, you have the possibility of taking a kayaking a trip along the rocky coast, or plunging into the water to watch coral fish through your snorkeling mask. You can also rent a scooter and explore the mountainous islands covered in rain forest.

Make sure your route includes the beautiful waterfall where the swimming is great, and some of the small fishing villages, where you can buy fresh and inexpensive watermelons and pineapples. Both Koh Kood and Koh Chang have several excellent, sandy beaches suitable for swimming and where you can seek refuge in the shade of the palm trees when the sun becomes too strong. The price of the trip includes three overnight stays in a bungalow. Meals and beverages are not included in the stay at Koh Kood/Koh Chang.

The sea safari ends on Koh Kood or Koh Chang, but feel free to stay for as long as you like. You may also want to move on to other tropical islands in the area. Please note that there is no public ferry from Koh Kood to the mainland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Contact us for further information about the return trip from Koh Kood. From Koh Chang there are several departures daily.

Note: It is not possible to pay by credit card or make cash withdrawals on Koh Kood. Make sure to bring sufficient cash with you for your entire stay and return trip. On Koh Chang there are both ATMs and banks. The program is subject to change due to variable weather conditions in the area. For your personal enjoyment and relaxation, we arrange the sea safari for small groups of 2 to 12/16 people (depending on the boat).

On the first three nights of the trip, you will sleep on the covered top deck of the boat under a mosquito net. There are bathroom facilities on the boat, and it is possible to take a fresh water bucket bath on the lower deck. Be prepared for basic facilities and conditions. The last three nights on Koh Kood/Koh Chang will be spent in a bungalow with electricity, toilet/shower and mosquito net.

It is possible to upgrade your accommodation on Koh Chang and stay at the Koh Chang Resort. The Koh Chang Resort costs more, but with a three-night stay you will receive a 200 DKK discount on the sea safari. Please note that departure is made on the following dates every month: the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th, 22nd, 25th and 28th.
