Imagine the experience – to be on foot out in the open desert, kilometers from the vehicle, from other people, cell phones, almost anything but sand and the little creatures that live in it. See a selection of different dunes, from the off-white dunes at the coast, to the almost brick red dunes seen at sunset at Sossusvlei region.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Overnight in Windhoek (Namibia’s capital city). We will meet for drinks at sundown for a short tour briefing. Dinner at your guest house. Overnight at one of Windhoek’s best guesthouses.
Day 2: Overnight at Beach Lodge (in Swakopmund). Breakfast at your guesthouse. We meet right after breakfast. After shopping we depart for Swakopmund. Our drive from Windhoek to Swakopmund goes via a gravel road, getting away from most traffic and driving through the Namib Naukluft Park. Dinner at a restaurant in Swakopmund. Overnight in the Beach lodge.
Day 3: Overnight at Beach Lodge (in Swakopmund). Visit the dunes and surroundings of Swakopmund for the day. Lunch in a restaurant in Swakopmund. Dinner at Beach Lodge’s Restaurant. Overnight in Beach lodge.
Day 4: Overnight at Sossus Dunes Lodge (Sesriem – Sossusvlei area). Breakfast at Beach Lodge. Stop for lunch at Rostock Ritz. Afternoon to Elim Dune. Overnight Dunes Lodge.
Day 5: Overnight at Sossus Dunes Lodge (Sesriem – Sossusvlei area). Pre-sunrise coffee/tea. Depart for Sossusvlei. Visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Climb Crazy Dune, the big dune above Deadvlei. Breakfast at Sossusvlei. Lunch will depend on the day’s activities. Afternoon visit to Sesriem Canyon and climb the hills, with a view of the dunes. Dinner at Sossus Dunes Lodge.
Day 6: Overnight Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge (Sossusvlei Region, NamibRand Nature Reserve). Pre-sunrise coffee/tea. Depart for Sossusvlei. Huge walk in the dunes – Today we get away from everyone else. We experience what few have – to really get away into the big dunes. Brunch picnic at the Tsauchab river crossing (between Sossusvlei and Sesriem). Afternoon depart for Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge. Late afternoon activity at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge. Dinner at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge.
Day 7: Overnight Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge (Sossusvlei Region, NamibRand Nature Reserve). Today is spent exploring the NamibRand Nature Reserve, explore the dunes. All meals at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge.
Day 8: Overnight in Windhoek . Breakfast at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge. Depart for Windhoek. We will be in Windhoek for lunch. Tour ends when we drop you off at your guest house.
