The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is part of the Port River Estuary and has been declared a "wetland of national significance". It is one of Adelaide's "secret spots" and an area of incredible beauty and ecological importance. The sheltered, tree lined creeks of this area are an ideal environment for a kayaking adventure. Whether you are a novice or more experienced paddler of any age this area has so much on offer for you to explore. The old growth mangrove forests of this area are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and of course the Port River Dolphins.
Traveling by kayak is a unique way to experience an encounter with the Port River Dolphins or view the "wrecks" in the Ship's Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail. Tours are conducted in 1,2 or 3 person kayaks, which are easy to paddle, stable and very comfortable. There is also plenty of space to bring a small bag of snacks and a drink to keep you fueled up throughout your adventure. A camera is also recommended and we can provide a waterproof case to keep it dry.
