The 5th and 6th Arrodissements, better known as the Latin Quarter, have been the intellectual capital of France since the founding of its famed university, the Sorbonne, in 1263. The Latin Quarter's students have been has been at the heart of all the trans formative movements in French history - everything from the French Revolution to the student uprising in May of 1968.

Today, the same famed cafes that such luminaries as Picasso and Hemingway frequented still line St. Germain Boulevard, and while times have changed, the essence of the Latin Quarter remains as it has always been - progressive, edgy, and lively.
