* About the location: Histoires de Bastide, your accommodations for the week, is ideally situated for those who wish to experience all the allure of the Riviera, a place where the sun shines almost all year-round! The bastide is located in the charming town of Tourrettes-sur-Loup, only 20 minutes from the Nice airport; St. Paul de Vence is nearby as well as the fashionable towns of Cannes and Monaco! Tourettes is a fortified village in which the ramparts are formed by the outer houses. The town is filled with wonderful artisans, and strolling the cobbled streets you will find shops with beautiful pottery, sculpture and art. The town is also known for its surrounding fields of violets, which are used in perfume and the candied sweets of the region. The bastide is a charming and authentic four-bedroom country house, renovated with care to ensure the comfort of the guests. All rooms have been beautifully decorated in a natural style with soft colors and dreamy textiles, opening on the garden of olive trees. Amenities include air conditioning, plasma satellite tv, minibars, safes as well as WIFI.
* About the cooking lessons: Nestled at the foot of the Gorges-du-Loup canyon, la Confiserie Florian invites you to discover cookery lessons based on "cooking with flowers." Formerly from Paris, Chef Yves instantly fell in love with the beautiful Grasse region and decided to specialize in cooking with flowers. You will learn how to use fresh regional flowers such as the Tango rose, violets from Tourrettes, jasmine from Grasse, nasturtium (Capucine), pansies and carnations. He will also show you how to transform candied violets and roses into delicious sweet or savory recipes. The content of the lessons depends on the season, the proposed dish and also the fresh flower harvest production; March: violets; May: roses; August: jasmine. Please note, not all classes are based solely on "cooking with flowers".
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Monday:
* Pickup from the Nice airport and transfer to the Histoires de Bastide in Tourrettes-sur-Loup.
* Settle into your accommodations with some free time to follow.
* Tonight, dinner on your own in the city center.
* Return transfer to your accommodations and overnight.
Day 2, Tuesday:
* Breakfast.
* Transfer to the teaching kitchen for your first hands-on cooking lesson.
* Lunch to follow based on your efforts.
* Depart for Grasse for a guided tour with the chef. Depending on the season, tour flower fields from which some of your creations for your class will be made.
* In the early evening, enjoy a guided visit of a traditional confectionery with a tasting session of regional specialties.
* Tonight's dinner will be at a local restaurant.
* Return to your accommodations and overnight.
Day 3, Wednesday:
* Breakfast, followed by a visit to Cannes.
* This morning you will visit the open-air market with the chef and purchase local products for your evening's class.
* Today's lunch in the city.
* After lunch, a guided visit of an oliveraie, where you will taste some different and flavorful oils and learn how to use them in the kitchen.
* Return to the teaching kitchen and for your second hands-on cooking lesson followed by dinner based on your efforts.
* Return to Histoires de Bastide and overnight.
Day 4, Thursday:
* After breakfast you will have your final cooking lesson.
* Lunch to follow based on your efforts.
* Depart for Nice where you will enjoy a city tour by mini-bus or coach, followed by free time for shopping!
* Dinner tonight in a traditional restaurant.
* Return to Histoires de Bastide and overnight.
Day 5, Friday:
* Breakfast and return transfer to Nice airport.
