Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: 1830m-3840m, 600ft-12ft, 5-7 hours, Montane forest vegetation. A drive from Moshi to trail head about 3 hours, walk through the rain forests, Gaiters and trekking poles to the shira camp.
Day 2: 3840m-4630m-3860m, 12600ft-12700ft, 15km,5-7 hours Semi desert. From the Shira plateau, we move to the east ridge, towards the Kibo peak, down southeast to the Lava tower "Shark's Tooth". Dinner and overnight at Barranco hut. Preparations for the summit day go on.
Day 3: 3860m-4200m, 12700ft-13800ft, 7km,4 hours, Alpine desert. After breakfast, leaving Barranco Hut to the wall then Karanga valley campsite.
Day 4: 3860m-4600m elevation of 12700ft-15100ft, 13km, 8 hours, Alpine Desert. After breakfast, leaving Barranco through the Karanga valley for lunch, to the mweka trails then the Barafu Hut. Set camp, dinner and overnight to be spent here enjoying the view of the summit at all angles.
Day 5: 4600m-5895m, 15100ft-19300ft, 7km,6-8 hours, stone scree and ice-capped summit. At midnight (2:00am), continue towards the summit between Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, northwest to the Stella Point along the crater rim (the most physical challenging portion of the trek), snow walk for 1 hour, then to the Uhuru peak (the highest point of Mt Kilimanjaro and Africa). After the summit, we descend to the Mweka Hut stopping at Barafu for lunch. In the evening,last dinner is enjoyed on the mountain and overnight as well.
Day 6: 3100m-1830m, 10,200ft-6000ft, 15km,3-4 hours, forest habitat. After breakfast, we descend to the Mweka Park Gate to recieve summit certificates, then to the Mweka village (1 hour). A vehicle to drive you back to Arusha will be there.
