This trip features the following highlights: city tour of Katmandu, trekking to Phakding, Namche Bazaar, climbing up to the Shyangboche, trail to Dudhkoshi and other peaks of Everest. You'll experience the tough climbing to Lobuche, the trail will continue with climbing to Gokak Shep at 5160m. The climax of this tour is the majestic Mount of Everest.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Katmandu
Upon your arrival in Katmandu (1000m/3280ft) Himalayan Glacier will officially greet and meet you at Airport and transfer to you Hotel Shanker. Free day and evening welcome dinner at any typical Nepalese Restaurant. Overnight in Katmandu.
Day 2: Katmandu
Half day guided city tours (tour includes Katmandu Durbar Square, Syambunath Stupa, Pashupati Nath Temple - Hindu Temple and Buddha Nath - The biggest Buddha Stupa in ancent Katmandu). Afternoon pre-trip discussion of next day trek. Overnight in Katmandu.
Day 3: Katmandu - Phakding
Early morning flight by small twinottor to Lukla which will take about 30 min, Trek to Phakding - 4 hrs Height 2652m. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 4: Phakding - Namche Bazaar
The trail cross Dudhkoshi River through a long suspension bridge then trail leads you crossing side by side along the river to Hilary's Suspension Bridge. The trail further climbs from here to Namche Bazaar at 3480m. Overnight in Namche.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar Acclimatisation Day
Namche bazaar is the main centre in the Khumbu region and has shops, restaurents, a bakery, hotel with hot showers and electric power. There is a colorful market each Saturday. Height 3480m. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 6: Namche Bazaar - Khumjung
The route starts by climbing up to the Shyangboche airstrip just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a Japanese scheme to build a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on Earth. Height 3860m. Overnight in Khumjung.
Day 7: Khumjung - Tengboche
The slightly descends step trail to Dudhkoshi at 3250 m. A step ascend brings you to the hight of 3870m, the famous Tengboche Gompa with its back ground of Ama Dablam, Everest and other peaks. Height 3870 m. Overnight in Tengboche.
Day 8: Tengboche - Pheriche
The trail drops down; cross the Imja Khola and climbs to Pangboche at 3860m is a nice place for Lunch stop. The trail then climbs to Pheriche. Height 4240 m 7 hrs. Overnight in Pheriche.
Day 9: Pheriche
Rest for acclimatization: another acclimatisation day should be spent at Pheriche. As at Namche Bazaar, a complete day walk further high altitude is planned rather then just rest. Height 4240 m. Overnighht in Pheriche.
Day 10: Pheriche - Duglha
The trail can climbs to Lobuche, however the high altitude doctor urge every trekker to stay a night at Duglha to aid complete acclimatisation. Height 4620m. Overnight in Duglha.
Day 11: Duglha - Lobuche
The trail goes from Duglha directly up to the Khumbu Glacier for an hour then left in to the memorial area before reaching the village of Lobuche.The altitudes and colds can ensure less then restful nights. Height 4930 m. Overnight in Lobuche.
Day 12: Lobuche - Gorak Shep
The trail continues to climb to Gokak Shep at 5160m. It further takes a couple of hours walking up to Kala Pattar (Black Rock)5545 m,this is small peak offers the best view of Everest without climbing it. Height 5160 m. Overnight in Gorak Shep.
Day 13: Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp - Lobuche
This day lead you to the Base Camp of Everest walking through rockky and glacical walk where the mumbers of climbers gathers for climbing Everest. It would take approx 6 hrs for round trip. Height 4930m. Overnight in Lobuche.
Day 14: Lobuche - Pangboche
Trek retrace half way back and lunch at Dingboche, the summer village at 4410m. Finally trek ends at Pangboche for today at 3860m which lies on the bank of Imja Khola. Height 3860 m. Overnight in Pangboche.
Day 15: Pangboche - Namche
Now the trail retrace same way back and stop at Tengboche, during the November - December full moon the colourful Mani Rimdu festival is held here with much singing and dancing. Height 3480m. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 16: Namche Bazaar - Phakding
Today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary made suspension Bridge and then continue easy natural trail. Overnighht in Phakding.
Day 17: Phakding - Lukla
4 hours walking takes you Lukla and has many shops, pool houses, electricity and you will have nice hot showers. There will not have any day flight to Katmandu at noon. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 18: An early morning flight from Lukla airstrip and check in to your hotel Shanker, free day. Evening celebration dinner together, overnight Katmandu. End of trip. Overnight in Katmandu.
