Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: On arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be met by your Registered Guide and transferred to your accommodation. Your first four nights will be spent in the luxury Bay Hotel in popular Camps Bay. The Hotel is five minutes from the heart of Cape Town, a very beautiful Mediterranean style hotel that combines the personal service and charm of a fine country hotel with all the sophistication and efficiency of a world-class hotel. Camps Bay has a fabulous beach just across the road from the hotel and excellent restaurants and shops line the road to give a real holiday feel. The hotel itself has a very good restaurant, a couple of lovely bars and a gorgeous swimming pool. A perfect place to fully unwind and described in one magazine as "the most relaxed and unpretentious of all the luxury hotels in and around Cape Town."
Day 2: You will be collected after breakfast by your Registered Guide for a private, personalized tour for a day of wine tasting in the nearby Cape wine lands. A beautiful drive, some wonderful Cape Dutch properties to see and some fabulous wines to taste!
Days 3-4: At 0900 an air conditioned car will be delivered to the Bay Hotel to give you the flexibility to discover the wonders of the Cape or simply relax by the pool or on the beach!
Days 5-6: Leave Cape Town and enjoy a pleasant 75 minutes drive to Bartholomeus Klip, a historic wheat and sheep farm today combined with hectares of private nature reserve, set against the mountains with wonderful views. Two nights luxury accommodation with all meals. Enjoy game drives, superb food and the many attractions on offer at Bartholomeus.
Days 7-8: Depart Bartholomeus and take a picturesque drive through the wine lands to the coast and the popular retreat of Hermanus with two nights accommodation in a Suite at the charming Auberge Burgundy. With great vantage points for viewing the Southern Right Whales during their annual migration period, Hermanus has become know as the heart of the Cape Whale Coast. Characterised by cobbled streets, preserved old buildings and a wonderful craft market, it is a popular getaway. October is prime time for this viewing and boat trips can be taken from the Harbour and there are many fabulous beaches to explore. If you are interested in Golf, Hermanus has a good course that we can pre-book for you.
Day 9: After a relaxed morning return to Cape Town and one night at the Commodore Hotel conveniently situated in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Enjoy an afternoon of shopping at the Waterfront, take a drive to Table Mountain or just relax! Your hire car will be collected from the Commodore at 1800. Wander to one of the many fabulous Waterfront restaurants for supper that night or dine at the Commodore.
Days 10-11: After breakfast you will be collected from the Commodore and taken to the train station for an 11am departure aboard "The Pride of Africa." Enjoy a romantic three day journey, with excursions, from Cape Town to Pretoria on the luxurious Rovos Rail.
Day 12: On arrival in Pretoria at 1200 you will be met by our Registered Guide and transferred to the luxury Makalali Private Game Reserve for three nights accommodation. Makalali is an ethnic bush retreat in the Northern Province situated west of the Kruger National Park. It has four separate camps with rooms individually decorated in African design styles with vivid Kente cloths and sculptured metalwork taps and ceramic basins. It is situated on the banks of the Makhutswi River on 30 000 acres of Lowveld Acacia and open savanna grassland and offers all the Big Five but Buffalo. Each camp has six luxury suites with each room having it’s own en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower, fireplace and a raised timber "sala" which is a private viewing deck/lounge.
Days 13-14: Enjoy Game drives and all on offer at Makalali.
Day 15: You will be transferred from Makalali to Hoedspruit airport to connect with your International flight out of Johannesburg.
