Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Flight to Jordan/Saturday 28th. Fly from London to Amman Queen Alia International Airport. Accommodation in Amman Intercontinental Hotel.
Day 2: Amman/Sunday 29th. Morning - Visit Citadel, site of the ancient city of Rabbath-Ammon, including the Ummayyad Palace, Temple of Hercules and 7th century Byzantine church; Afternoon - Tour of Roman Theatre, Forum and Nymphaeum. Evening - Dinner.
Day 3: Jerash/Monday 30th. Morning - Tour of the Roman ruins of Jerash. Watch Chariot races and Gladiatorial combat. Afternoon - Depart for Hotel and free time. Evening - Dinner – traditional dancing – photos in Bedouin clothing.
Day 4: Amman/Tuesday 31st. Morning - Depart Hotel and visit SOS Children’s Village on to the 3 desert castles: Firstly: Amara.
Afternoon - Continue to Kharrah. Evening - Free-time at hotel or depart for optional tour of Darat Al-Funun Gallery Dinner in Hotel.
Day 5: To Madaba and Petra/Wednesday 1st April. Morning - Travel to Madaba visit to Madaba St George’s Church and view the famous mosaic map, visit mosaic school and Kerak Crusader Fortress. Lunch in King’s Castle Kerak. Afternoon - Depart for Petra, Arrive Little Petra – archaeological tour. Evening - Overnight at the Ammarin Bedouin Camp – Little Petra Enjoy an evening of traditional Bedouin food, music and dance. Sleep in tents under the stars just 200 meters from the Little Petra archaeological site. (Hotel arrangements can be made for those not wishing to sleep under the stars).
Day 6: Tour of Petra/Thursday 2nd April. Morning - After rising early enjoy the early morning light on the red ruins of this ancient city (described as the Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World). Afternoon - Late lunch restaurant in Petra and travel to Marriot Hotel Spa on the Dead Sea. Evening - Dinner in Hotel.
Day 7: Dead Sea/Friday 3rd April. Relaxation Day - Activities for enjoyment and relaxation include spa treatments at the Marriot Hotel Spa, swimming in the Dead Sea, and mud baths. Afternoon - Optional excursion to Baptism Site of Jesus ($51, not included in tour price)
Evening - Farewell Dinner.
Day 8: Depart for London/Saturday 4th April.
Clothing:
- Men should wear long or short sleeved shirts and long trousers. Jeans are quite acceptable.
- Women’s clothing must aim to disguise the shape of her body and only flesh on hands and face should be left showing. A long sleeved, loose shirt over trousers or a long skirt would be ideal. A headscarf is compulsory but it can be colorful and patterned if you wish.
