Being the capital as well as the center of politics, economics and culture of China, Beijing has become a very welcoming and pleasant city after its hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games. King Wu was the first to declare Beijing the capital city in 1057 BC.

Subsequently, the city has gone by the names of Ji, Zhongdu, Dadu, and finally Beijing when the Ming Dynasty Emperor ChengZu chose the name in 1421. Before 1949, Beijing was known as Peking by the Western world. After 1949, the city's name returned to Beijing, as it is known today. Beijing has a whole area of 16808 sq km (about 6500 sq mi), stretching 160 kilometers from east to west and over 180 kilometers north to south, boasting a total population of 17 million people.

Day 3: Buffet Breakfast. Your day tour takes you outside the Beijing area through the surrounding countryside to see some of the most impressive sights in China. Along the way, visit the Cloisonné Art Works to experience the meticulous craftsmanship of Chinese artisans in the ancient style. Visit the strikingly beautiful Eastern Juyonguan section of the Great Wall. From here you'll have an opportunity to climb higher to a magnificent vista of the dragon-like arms and legs of the Wall stretching in various directions across the countryside. Lunch at Friendship Longdi Restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the largest food and home utensil market in Beijing - Da Zhong Si, enjoy free time there and taking pictures of those interesting subjects. Then proceed to visit the Forbidden City (called in Chinese Purple Royal City), where 24 emperors in Ming and Qing Dynasty (1420-1911) ascended their throne. Characteristics of typical Chinese garden could be found at every corner inside, plus the most ingenious Fengshui arrangements of water and hills. Then visit the Pearl Market and view the many designs, colors, and textures of pearls from this part of the world.

China is the very few countries in the world without a national religion; however superstition is dominating the local life serving as a mixture of philosophical and spiritual factors.
