Day 3 Paltamo – Manamansalo approx. 54 km
Today you will head towards the island of Manamansalo. A good place for lunch break could be an old Hakasuo mil which is also the start point for a 6 km long nature trail. Upon arriving at Manamasalo, you will proceed to Kultahiekat (Golden Sands) camping site at the southern-most tip of the island. Accommodation is in two-person cabins right on the shores of Lake Oulujärvi.

The first kilometres you will cycle amidst lichen heaths and clear-water ponds to Alassalmi, where you will take a ferry over the strait to the mainland. After the ferry-ride you will take a northbound course towards the village of Säräisniemi which is one of the oldest inhabited villages in the area.
Day 5 Säräisniemi – Rokua approx. 30 km
After breakfast the route continues via the Vaala municipality towards Rokua. You can stop at Lamminaho House Museum along the way, offering an insight into everyday life in the area during the 19th century. In Rokua, the northernmost Geopark of the UNESCO network, you can study the landforms shaped by the Ice Age: glacial ridges, pine and lichen heaths, kettle holes and small ponds filled with crystal clear water. Rokua has also a National Park and numerous marked trails in the area offer an outstanding opportunity for hiking.
Day 6 Rokua – Merilä Manor approx. 41 km
The first leg of today’s journey advances through the hilly terrain of Rokua but then suddenly, the road begins to run smoothly and the landscape undergoes a transformation as you reach the open fields of Ostrobothnia.
