In the morning you will experience your first sightseeing tour of the Spanish “City of Kings”. This was at once the capital of the Latin American Empire and a vital port for the conquistadors to ship their bounty back to the motherland. You will marvel at the Plaza Mayor and its colonial style, as well as the beautiful government palace, home to the President of the Republic. You will also get the opportunity to visit the town hall, the palace of the archbishop and the Cathedral, one of the finest in Latin America. In the afternoon we venture into one of Lima’s affluent suburbs to visit the Gold Museum, with it’s stunning collection of Incan and Pre Colombian treasure. Day 3: Pachacamac. Today we marvel at the ancient city of Pachacamac. Rising majestically on a cliff top overlooking the waters of the Pacific Ocean, this monument was built to honor the creator of the universe and divinity. He was worshiped by the Andean Indians. This temple was once a holy place, where pilgrims flocked to give their offerings and to ask advice of the Oracle. There are many pyramid temples and palaces built over time by various cultures. Some of them include Dios de Sol (Sun God), Los Mujeres Escogidas (Chosen women) and Las Virgines del Sol (Sun Virgins). Pachacamac also has a museum that exhibits an idol found at the site. The temple is said to form part of the world’s mystic axis. After leaving this site, we return to the Lima up the Pan American highway and visit the seaside colonial suburb of Barranco, with its beaches of the “Costa Verde”, Salto de Fraile cliffs and Villa swamps. Day 4: Departure- After your stay in the city we transfer you to the airport for your onward flight, or onward tour. Notes:
