Destinations to Visit: Phnom Penh / Siem Reap. Containing one of the world's most magnificent sights, the Temples of Angkor, Cambodia has been a favorite destination of intrepid tourists for decades. However, the country cannot be fully appreciated without a visit to the capital city of Phnom Penh. With this short three-day tour, let Exotissimo show you the wonders and richness of Cambodian culture and history.

Your tour starts in Phnom Penh, a graceful city set upon the banks of the Tonle, Mekong, and Bassac rivers. Strolling down the main quay, glimpses of French Indochina can be seen in the architecture and wide tree-lined boulevards of the area. Traveling on to the former capital of the Angkorian empire, Siem Reap is a quaint town that serves as the base for exploring the unimaginable splendor of the temples of Angkor. Nestled amongst the jungle and rice fields are hundreds of temples built between the 9th to the 13th centuries by the powerful Khmer Empire.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Phnom Penh: Arrive in Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel. A guided city tour begins at the National Museum, a beautiful building filled with hundreds of Angkorian-era statues and paintings. Continue on to the Royal Palace, home to Cambodia's Royal Family as well as the elaborate Silver Pagoda. As the sun sets, climb to the top of the hill of Wat Phnom, the city's namesake. Overnight at the Cambodiana, Phnom Penh. Includes: (L), (D).

Day 2: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap: This morning a short flight takes you to Siem Reap. Begin your temple touring at the towering South Gate of Angkor Thom, built by the last king of the Khmer empire. Within its walls, visit several temples including Bayon, whose 37 towers feature mysterious faces staring down at you from all directions. End your day at the breathtaking Angkor Wat where the late afternoon sun highlights the intricate carvings that cover this massive stone building. Overnight at the Victoria Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 3: Siem Reap: After an early breakfast, enjoy a morning of temple touring. Amongst the wondrous ancient ruins you will visit is Preah Khan, which was at one time thought to be covered in gold, diamonds, and rubies. A highlight for many visitors is the evocative Ta Prohm where, over the years, giant fig trees and creeper vines have invaded the area now hold the temple together. Your last stop of the day is a choice between visiting the unique Ta Som temple, or taking a drive out to Tonle Sap Lake where you will a boat to explore the floating villages and fish farms of South East Asia's largest freshwater lake. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
