Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer from Calama to San Pedro de Atacama. On route you will see spectacular views of the Cordillera de la Sal. The remainder of the day is free. Day 2: In the morning we visit the archaeological museum of Padre le Paige, with its famous collection of artifacts from Atacameño society. We also visit the church of San Pedro which dates from the 17th century. In the afternoon we set out to the Valley of the Moon to see the sunset in this bizarre, lunar landscape which has been formed by the erosion of the salt mountains. Day 3: Free morning to enjoy the silent atmosphere of the desert or to visit the nearby pre-Inca fortress of Pucará de Quitor. In the afternoon we visit the Salar de Atacama. On route we shall visit the town of Toconao. The houses in this small picturesque village are built from bricks of white volcanic stone, giving the town a very unique appearance. After Toconao we continue on to visit the world’s largest salt lake: the Salar de Atacama. The salt lake is home to various species of flamingos (and other wildlife). The visit offers a terrific opportunity to get closer to these birds in their natural habitat. Day 4: Early departure for the geysers of El Tatio. El Tatio is situated at an altitude of 4,500 m above sea level on the Altiplano. The geysers are spectacular in the early morning as the rising sun strikes the steam. We then travel to Calama where the journey ends. Notes: Price Includes:
