Tour Itinerary:
You will be collected from your Arusha hotel at 9:00 am by your guide and drive to the village of Nkoaranga. From Nkoaranga, your guide will take you through small villages up to Sura, about 1600 meter above sea level. On the walk you will pass small farms and different plantations including bananas, maize, potatoes and coffee. On your walk you will pass houses hidden amongst the banana plants and if locals and children spot you, no doubt they will come to say hello. The children will be keen to talk to and walk with you when they spot a Mzungu. At the top of the trail, on a clear day, you will have great views of both Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. Here you will stop for refreshments. At a nearby farm you will meet a farmer who grows coffee, bananas and maize. You will also learn about coffee production and you can even try to roast your own coffee. If you love to walk you can go all the way up to the forest reserve and see the water sources. Back in Nkoaranga, there is an orphanage for babies and young children. You will have a short stop to make some new friends and see how everyone is doing. After this scenic walk, back in the village, you will be served a delicious African lunch including chapati, fried banana (matoke), ugali, meat sauce and lots of fresh local fruit. You will return to your hotel around 1700. It is also possible to buy fresh coffee made by the farmers from the village. Member discount: Notes: Price Includes:
