Our trips originate out of the harbor in Hoonah. We will spend the day(s) cruising the shorelines of Icy Strait enjoying the activities of the many humpback whales that make the local area their home in the summer months. Along with the humpback whales we frequently see a pod of Killer whales as they cruise through the strait making their rounds.
Abundant marine mammal populations of harbor and Dall's porpoise, harbor seal, sea lion and sea otter are also a part of every trip. Dozens of bald eagles and sea birds frequent the shore as do many coastal brown bear and blacktail deer.
Custom itineraries for multiple or single day adventures are our specialty and we have been providing the highest quality of service to guests from all over the world since 1995. We have entertained professional photographers in search of the perfect shot of breaching or bubble feeding whales, families on the adventure of a lifetime as well as wildlife enthusiast that simply want to get away to a new and exciting place.
Your hosts, Shawn and Teresa McConnell are life-long Alaskans and Shawn was raised in Hoonah and has over 40 years of boating experience on the local waters.
You time on the water will be spent aboard our 35' Maine built lobster yacht. A seaworthy and very comfortable platform from with to enjoy the area. The boat is equipped with all of the modern electronics and safety equipment available and is warm, dry and has a nicely appointed restroom.
We have a comfortable guest cottage in which you may stay during your visit. The cottage has all of the comforts of home and is located on our property just across the street from the boat harbor. We are located within easy walking distance of the local market and restaurants.
We provide a loaner auto for longer trips or for those who may not want to brave the occasional rain shower. If you are a seafood lover, salmon, halibut, crab and rock fish are available all summer long for you to catch and enjoy while you are with us.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.
Costs are on a per person basis and start at $165 for 1/2 day trips to $220 for our full day trips. A 6% sales tax is collected on all tours and is not included in these prices.
