Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival.
Day 2: A circular walk from Castelo de Vide following ancient mule tracks through the heart of this region passing the much revered Fonte de Carvoeiro and the old village of Carrierras, 14km/8.5miles.
Day 3: A circular walk to the Spanish frontier from the village of Gallegos passing the Marmitas de Gigante caves through picturesque countryside, 16km/10miles.
Day 4: Marvão and its spectacular panoramic setting are the main features of today's circular walk, 8.5km/5.1miles.
Day 5: A very beautiful walk from the medieval village of Reguengo with time in the afternoon to visit the winery of Portalegre, 13km/7.5miles.
Day 6: Departure.
Notes:
Public transport to the Alto Alentejo is difficult but not impossible; this holiday is better suited to those that have a hire car. However if you prefer to use public transport we can arrange taxi transfers to and from the local train station.
