With no fixed itinerary this holiday allows you to take each day as it comes, exploring this fantastic region at your own pace. This walking holiday has a rating of flexible, this means YOU decide how much walking (if any) you wish to do on a daily basis.
Urbion Exploration holiday is based in the quaint rural village of Vinuesa. This small interesting village nestled in convergence of the Rivers Revinuesa & Duero offers the visitor an amalgamation of urban and rural landscapes, history and tradition. Sitting in the ‘Pinares’ (Pine region) the largest forest mass on the Iberian Peninsula, it’s not surprising the forest and surrounding Picos Urbion are a draw card for outdoor enthusiasts throughout the year. There are many walking and hiking routes along which you can enjoy spectacular scenery, wild lavender & thyme, native trees, birds and other fauna. Autumn brings mushroom collecting and the sounds of the wild deer bellowing.
You’ll be provided with a detailed information pack including, walking and topography maps, information about the village and places of interest, list of restaurants and food options including some of our favorite places to pick up picnic supplies.
With over 25 walks of varying difficulty and length there is something for every walker. Some walking trails begin and end in the village, others higher up in the Picos Urbion. Transfers to the start and from end point of the walks outside Vinuesa village can be organized if required on a day to day basis at a cost of €10 per return transfer, therefore you only pay for transfers you actually use. We are also on hand to provide backup support should you require it.
The accommodation we have chosen for you is the rural inn Casa La Pinariega. Built in the 19th century it has been fully restored keeping original features and includes modern touches such as central heating and en suite bathrooms. Your double occupancy room comes with en suite bathroom, continental breakfast and use of the guest lounge.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to Soria. You will be greeted at Soria's train or bus station by us, your hosts, Alfredo and Louise and transfered to the quaint rural village of Vinuesa. After you have checked into Casa La Pinariega, your accommodation for the next 5 nights we’ll take you on a short guided walked around the village, pointing out the location of restaurants and bars, banks, bakeries, village shop and supermarket as well as some of the walking trail start points, waymarks and signs. Once you are familiar with your new surrounds we’ll spend some time going through your detailed information pack, recommending walks and places of interest you may wish to visit.
Days 2-5: Explore this fantastic region at your own pace. You decide how much walking you wish to do each and everyday. We’ll check in with you each morning by phone, discuss possible trails for the day and if required transfer you to and from Vinuesa to the days walking route. Vinuesa has many restaurants and bars for you to sample the local cuisine or you can make use of the guest kitchen in the Casa La Pinariega to prepare packed lunches to take with you on your walks.
Day 6: Today it’s time to farewell Vinuesa and the Sierra Urbion. We’ll transfer you back to Soria’s bus or train station at a suitable time for you to connect with your onward journey.
