A river trip in Nepal is a wonderful way to explore and experience Nepal's natural and ethnic and cultural heritage. Rivers here are regarded as goddesses, and are included in a number of Hindu and Buddhist religious rituals. Many can be witnessed during a raft adventure.
Sun Koshi (River of Gold) has been classed as one of the ten best rafting rivers in the world. Big rapids, warm water, no roads or towns, extraordinary scenery and great camping make this a classic multi-day river trip. The most common put-in point of a Sunkosi river trip is Dolalghat, a three hour drive north-east from Kathmandu.
At the outset, the river is peaceful and the first day's rafting is relatively easy. The Sun Kosi traverses the Mahabharat range and follows one of the main geological fault lines of the Himalayas. This is also an excellent trip for intermediate and advanced kayakers.
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
