Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Early morning dept South Africa, Gauteng to drive across the border to overnight at a private rhino reserve, one of the few places in southern Africa where rhino can be seen today. (7 hours drive). Days 2 and 3: Drive via central Botswana to the Boteti River, flowing this year for the first time in 15 years, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pan and the zebra migration route. This area is always alive with herds of zebra; elephant and lion are also plentiful here. Accommodation in en-suite safari tents overlooking the river (3 hours drive). Day 4: Drive to Maun, overnight at a local ethnic guest house with local ethnic dancers to entertain you. (1.5 hours drive). Day 5: Head north to Kwai River, to overnight at a lodge on the river banks adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve. (2 hours drive). Day 6: Returning via Maun, continue through the Makgadikgadi/Nxai Pans National park, to overnight at a private game conservancy adjacent to Nxai Pan. (4 hours drive). Day 7: Continue west across Botswana’s pans area, to overnight at a lodge on the northern edge of Ntwetwe Pan overlooking the great Makgadikgadi Pans. (2 hours drive). Day 8: Turning south, cross Sowa Pan and spend the last night at a private guest farm outside Francistown. (6 hours drive). Day 9: Return across the border to Johannesburg. (8 hours drive). A word about this safari: This is an all lodge safari. You will be accompanied through out by an experienced driver/guide and transported in an air conditioned comfortable bush vehicle. All activities will be provided by staff from each lodge according to its location and specialty.
