This package has been specially designed for travelers who are eager to experience the magnificence of the Everest range, without wanting too much mental and physical stress. The view from Gokyo is exceptionally beautiful and offers more of the legendary mountain than from the views from Kala Pattar though from a slightly greater distance.
The trek begins with a short flight to Lukla (2800m), from where you will proceed to Phakding on the day of arrival for an overnight stay. The next and more scenic day will be spent trekking up to Namche Bazaar (3442m), a colorful Saturday market while interacting with the Sherpas known for their warm-heartedness. A full day will be spent in Namche Bazaar, important for the acclimatization of climbers.
The subsequent days will see you pass through Phortse Tanga and Machhermo where the mountains are more spectacular while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Ngozumba Glacier, the largest of its kind in the Nepal Himalayas. Passing through these villages will also give you a chance to have a look at the lifestyles of high altitude dwellers.
The small herding settlement of Gokyo (4750m) lies on the banks of the third lake in a series of small turquoise mountain lakes and on the ridge above Gokyo, the four peaks above 8000m of Cho You, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu expose themselves. If that is not enough have a look at the tremendous ice ridge between Cho You and Gyachung (7922m), considered one of the most dramatic panoramas in the Khumbu region. There are many options for additional exploration and high-altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5420m-high pass into Khumbu and a hike to Gokyo Ri.
The descent is made through Phortse Tanga with a chance to visit Tengboche (3800m), home to the highest Buddhist Monastery in the world and also considered the best spot in Nepal to take a look at and photograph Mt. Everest (8848m) and its neighboring peaks. You will have another chance to capture the vibrant Namche Bazaar on your way down to Lukla where a flight back to Kathmandu awaits you.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Katmandu
Arrival in Katmandu International Airport, official greeting and transfer to Hotel Shanker. Evening welcome dinner and trip discussion. Overnight in Hotel Shanker.
Day 2: Katmandu
Katmandu Valley Sightseeing Buddhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Syambunath Stupa and Old Royal Palace. Afternoon pre trek information and introductions with your trek leader. Overnight in Hotel Shanker.
Day 3: Katmandu - Phakding
Fly to Lukla for 35 minutes usually the flight to Lukla(2866M) always in the morning and commence trek to Phakding in the same day. Height 2640m, time 4 hrs. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 4: Phakding - Namche Bazaar
Walking from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the big Sherpa Village where you can excess internet to your friends and family, nice restaurant and bakery cafe are also available. Height 3442m, time 7 hrs. Overnight in Namche.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar
Today you have rest and not demanding walking but we encourage for comfort walking in and around. Altitude Acclimatize Day. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 6: Walking through the Namche Hill and Lunch at Everest View Hotel(3880m) and continue to stay at Khumjung and Khunde village. Visit Khunde Hospital, the first hospital in Khumbu. Height 3790m, time 7 hrs. Overnight in Khumjung Village.
Day 7: Khumjung - Phortse Tanga
Trail ascent by the stone steps through rocks will take you to the western slope, reach Phortse Tanga. Height 3500m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Phortse Tanga.
Day 8: Phortse Tanga - Dole
From Phortse Thenga, you will first trek through the rhododendron woods on the right bank of the Dudh Koshi. You are looking nice view of Cho Oyu(8201m), Thamserku and Kantenga(6799m) and reach Dole Village. Height 4180m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Dole.
Day 9: Dole - Machhermo
From Dole, climb up the slope behind the lodge go onto the mountain flank overlooking the Dudhkosi. Cross one more branch ridge and you will come to a wide valley and arrive at Machhermo. Height 4465m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Machhermo.
Day 10: Machhermo - Gokyo
Today you will finally arrive in Gokyo. You will be able to reach there by noon which takes about 5 hrs. The trek along the eastern bank for about 10 min, and the Kharka become visible. Height 4791m. Overnight in Gokyo.
Day 11: Gokyo-Gokyo Peak
Early morning hike to Gokyo Ri Peak (5483m) the scenic top to explore the entire Gokyo and Khumbu valley, back to Gokyo, 6 hrs. Overnight in Gokyo.
Day 12: Gokyo - Phortse Village
After exploration Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Valley you will be walking down to Phortse. Height 3880m, time 7 hrs. Overnight in Phortse Village.
Day 13: Phortse Village - Tengboche
You may have opportunity to see mosk dears, visit Tengboche monasteries which has been built on 7th centuries. Height 3800m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Tengboche.
Day 14: Tengboche - Monjo
Trek goes down to the Fuki Tenga and steady climb and continuous walk to Namche Bazaar. After Namche you are walking descend and reach to the village of Monjo Height 2950m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Monjo.
Day 15: Monjo-Lukla
A half day walk about 5 hours walking through the bank of Dudhkosi river and climb an hour to reach Lukla. Height 2866m, time 6 hrs. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 16: Lukla - Kathmandu
An early morning flight from Lukla airstrip and check in to your hotel Shanker, free day. Evening celebration dinner together, overnight Katmandu. End of trip. Overnight in Katmandu.
