You will visit Italy, Switzerland and France during this Best of the Alps itinerary, walking hut to hut. Hike the most famous and spectacular European trekking route, the Tour of Mont Blanc, alpine loop around the highest mountain in Western Europe.

Level: Advanced. Walking time: 6/8 hours a day with personal backpack. Total climbing: 7300m/23950 ft. Maximum climbing in one day: 1690m/5545 ft.
Accommodations: Budget (mountain huts).

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Milan (Italy)-Courmayeur (Ita)-Le Pré (Ita)
Meet at Malpensa airport in Milan (Italy).
Transfer to Courmayeur (Vale d’Aosta/Italy).
Short walk to Bertone Hut, where we will sleep.
Hiking time: approx. 2 h
Climbing: + 653 m

Day 2: Bertone hut(Ita)-Bonatti hut (Ita)
First day of hiking and first contact with the beautiful glacier valleys of the Mont Blanc. Walking through Testa Bernarda crest and Malatra valley.
Overnight at Refuge Bonatti (2020 m). Hot shower available.
Hiking time: approx. 5 h
Climbing: + 850 m

Day 3: Bonatti (Ita)-Champex (CH)
Hike up to the Elena mountain hut (2000 m) and Col Ferret (2537m) mountain pass, entering Switzerland. Bus transfer from La Foulie to Champex, in Switzerland.
Overnight in Relais de Arpette (1627 m).
Hiking time: approx. 7h30
Climbing: +960 m

Day 4: Champex (CH)-Col de Balme (Fra)
Another great day of hiking. Pass through Fenettre dArpette and by Trient Glacier. Our final destination is the Col de Balme mountain hut (2191 m), where Alexander Dumas stayed in 1836, on his way to Switzerland.
Overnight in Refuge Col de Balme (France).
Hiking time: approx. 8h30
Climbing: + 1652 m

Day 5: Col de Balme-Les Contamines(Fra)
Down by the beautiful Chamonix valley, including a bus transfer from Argentiere to Les Houches. We will stop in Chamonix to rest and do some shopping (mid day). Gondola up from Les Houches.
Overnight in Contamines (1164 m).
Hiking time: approx. 6h
Climbing: +581 m

Day 6: Les Contamines (Fra)-Les Mottets (Fra)
Today we will do several mountain passes, like Col Bonhomme (2483m), in the company of wild marmots.
Lodging - Challet des Mottets (1978 m).
Hiking time: approx. 8h
Climbing: +1690 m

Day 7: Les Mottets(Fra)-Chécroui(Ita)
We go back to Italy, by Col de la Seigne (2513m) and hiking down through the Ferret valley. From the trail we can admire the breathtaking sight of Mont Blanc´s peak.
Overnight in Maison Veille Hut (1900 m).
Hiking time: aprox. 6h
Climbing: +990 m

Day 8: Chécroui(Ita)-Courmayeur(Ita)-Milan (Ita)
Short walk down to Courmayeur. Free time to visit this typical village and shopping. Transfer to Malpenza airport in Milan. Flight back home.
Hiking time: aprox. 2h
Climbing: +18 m -746m
