Day 1: New Delhi - Himalayas (Manali). Meeting at Kulu airport, transfer to Manali (30 km) and check in the hotel. Also you can take an optional acclimatization walk. Then visit Manali and Vashist. Overnight: Guest house in Manali (2050 m).
Day 2: Manali - Keylong. Transfer by 4x4 until Rothang pass (3950 m) 45 km outside Manali. From this pass we can enjoy a wide panoramic view with mountains rising far above the clouds. Arrive at lunch time to Keylong (3156 m) and walk to visit a Buddhist monastery (2-3 hrs). Overnight: Guest house. Transfer distance: 95 km, 60 miles. Optional walk: 8 km, 5 miles.
Day 3: Keylong - Darcha - Palamo. The day starts with a transfer of 35 km to Darcha. From here, we will start our trek in direction to Palamo (3690 m), our camping site. This is a comfortable 5 hours hike with time to enjoy and acclimatize. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 12 km, 7.5 miles; 4-5 hours.
Day 4: Palamo - Zanskar Sumdo. Trekking of approximately 8 km to Zanskar Sumdo (3940 m). Still in the process of acclimatization, we will walk slowly enjoying this first day of immersion in the Himalayan mountains (4-5 hours). Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 9 km, 4 miles; 4-5 hours.
Day 5: Zanskar Sumdo - Chumik Nakpo. Trekking to reach Chumik Nakpo (4400 m), covering approx. The trekking starts with a steep climb after the campsite that gradually eases up to Chumik Nakpo, our Shingo La base camp. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 12 km, 7.5 miles; 5-6 hours.
Day 6: Chumik Nakpo - Shingo La - Lakong. Early breakfast. 14 km hike to reach Lakong at (4400 m) passing by Shingo La (5100 m). A series of prayer flags mark the Shingo La. From the top of the Pass, there are spectacular views of the peaks of Ladakh. This is one of the longest and tiring days with a total of approx. 7-8 hours walking. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 14 km, 9 miles; 7-8 hours.
Day 7: Lakong - Kargyak. We will cover 16 km to reach Kargyak (4150 m) in about 6-7 hours. New mountains fill the landscape, once we are entering Zanskar ancient Tibetan Kingdom. In the evening a special party at villagers house. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 16 km, 10 miles; 6-7 hours.
Day 8: Kargyak - Purne. Trekking to reach Purne (3900 m), covering 12 km in approximately 5-6 hours, passing by lost Buddhist villages such as Shin, Testa, Tablay or Kuru. Overnight: Camping in Purne. Total distance: 12 km, 7.5 miles; 5-6 hours.
Day 9: Purne - Phuktal Gompa - Purne. This is a relaxing day to visit Phuktal Gompa (3800 m), one of the most impressive Gompas (Buddhist temple) in the Ladakh Kingdom. The monastery, situated on a limestone cliff is impressive with an assembly hall carved out of a huge cave. The walk until the monastery takes approx. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 14 km, 9 miles; 3-4 hours.
Day 10: Purne - Ichar. Cross small canyons of pudding stones leading to Ichar village (3720 m). The trail over hangs Kargyak river until arriving to Ichar after 5-6 hours of trek. Overnight: Camping. Total distance: 18 km, 11 miles; 5-6 hours.
Day 11: Ichar - Reru - Padum. From Ichar we go down to Reru (3800 m). This will be a short walk of 3-4 hours. From here we will travel by 4x4 until Padum (3500 m), passing by Bardan Gompa and Muney village. Overnight: Guest house. Total walking distance: 8 km 5 miles; 3-4 hours.
Day 12: Padum - Kargil. Transfer to Kargil (2650 m). This will be a full day to cover the 110 km from Padum to Kargil. In between the astonishing views over 7000 m snow peaks, in particular the famous Nun and Kun. Overnight: Hotel. Total distance: 110 km, 69 miles; 6-8 hours.
Day 13: Kargil - Leh. Last day of drive before arriving to the ancient capital of Ladakh - Leh at 3522 m. It will take us 7-8 hours to make this road that includes Fotu La pass (4094 m).
Overnight: Hotel in Leh. Total distance: 230 km, 140 miles; 7-8 hours.
Day 14: Leh. Free day in Leh, capital of Ladakh. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Palace, with a similar architecture to the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa and the interesting mosque with Buddhist influences, the oldest in the region and unique in the world. Overnight: Hotel.
Day 15: Leh - New Delhi. Transfer to airport to fly back to Delhi.
Free afternoon for city tour in old and New Delhi. Return flight during night.
