The purpose of this trip is to stay in the lovely old colonial homes in Forest Reserves & Parks. Giving you a very relaxed and home away from home experience. Stay on Lake Malawi at the Livingstonia Beach Hotel near Salima for all lake activities and time for relaxation.
Liwonde National Park - This location on the Shire river that drains Lake Malawi offers superb boat safaris. Abundant bird life is a real highlight here, with abundent elephants and hippos. Time spent on the Shire River is raal novelty.
Zomba Plateau is a favorite - This mountain offers superb views with the time to do some exploration that reflects your own interests. The gardens on this mountain reflect a real paradise!
Mount Mulanje - Set amongst tea plantations and rising up from the surrounding countryside, Mount Mulanje is a Global Biosphere Reserve. This means it is an international important wildlife habitat where many of the species found here are found nowhere else in the world e.g. The Mulanje Cedar tree, that locals create wonderful 'chip carved' furniture from.
Dedza Pottery - We enjoy sunset from the top of Dedza Mountain. You will have plenty of time to select some pottery to either take with you or ship home from this world famous pottery.
Nyika National Park - A stay here will take you to a different world - Sightings of Roan Antelope and very good chances of seeing Leopard will make this excursion a true memory. Nyika is famed for orchids and flowers and miles of pristine undulating grasslands.
Vwaza Marsh - A short walk and a night time safari will be a treat here - Great birding and hippo sightings are guaranteed along Lake Kazuni's shoreline. Hopefully the Elephants will wonder through camp to end another special day. We had a wonderful encounter with Elephants in July 2008. Sadly the accommodation at Vwaza that is now run by the local government has gone downhill - We will go prepared!
Visit Livingstonia where we will stay at the Stone House and have plenty of time to explore the area. This tour can be costed for groups up to 10 in size and can be tailored to a length that works best for you. A suggested length would be 10 - 15 days.
