Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and on a clear morning can offer a panoramic view from the "Roof of Africa" down to the surrounding plains. The Rongai route is the most scenic.
Tour Itinerary: Days 1, 2: Travel. On arrival transfer from Arusha to hotel on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, overnight Kibo Hotel. Day 3: Transfer to trailhead to begin climb, climb through forest, overnight Forest Edge Camp. Day 4: 3-4 hours steep climb up grassy slopes, overnight Kikelewa Caves Camp. Day 5: Hike 6-7 hours through Moorland zone, overnight Mawenzi Tarn Camp. Day 6: 5-6 hours hike across the lunar desert to the bottom of the crater wall, overnight School Camp. Day 7: Begin final ascent around 1AM to Uhuru Peak, returning to Kibo Camp to rest then onward to next camp (11-15 hours walking), overnight Horombo Hut. Day 8: 5-6 hours steady decent to trailhead, transfer to Kibo Hotel for overnight. Notes:
