Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Addis Abeba.

Day 2: Fly Addis – Bahir Dar. Transfer to the airport early in the morning at 5:00 a.m. for the flight of 7:00. Arrive at about 8:00 in Bahir Dar. Transfer to your hotel and immediately take a boat trip on lake Tana to Zegue pennisule. Vist the two churches found here. Namely. In the afternoon drive to Blue Nile Falls,the outlet of the Blue Nile,the former palace of Emperor Haileselassie.

Day 3: Fly Bahir Dar – Gonder. Visit Gonder: was the capital city of Ethiopia in the 17th century. Gonder, known as the “Camelot” of Africa” has a series of medieval castles, churches, hand crafts, arts and potteries. Visit Debre Birhanselassie church, the ceiling of which is decorated with beautiful winged angels painting, King Fasiledes bath and other sites, casteles, Debrebirhan selassie church and other sites.

Day 4: Fly to Lalibela. Visit first and second groups of 12th century monolithic churches of Lalibela. Lalibela, probably Ethiopia’s top attraction, was the capital of the Zagwe Dnasty in the12 and 13 century. History and details are too long to include in this itinerary.

Day 5: Visit churches outside Lalibela.

Day 6: Fly to Axum. Visit Axum The world’s tallest single stone Stelae, St. Mary Tsion church and other archeological sites.

Day 7: Fly Axum - Addis: Omo Valley Expedition.

Day 8: Addis Abeba – Awassa. Drive by 4WD to Rift Valley lakes, Ziway, Abiyata, Shala, Langano Awassa.

Day 9: Awassa-Chencha – Arba Minch. Early morning visit of “Fish Market” of Awassa and drive via sodo to Chencha, home of the Dorze tribe known for their huge beehive huts and their cotton togas “Shemma” weaving and continue to Arba Minch.

Day 10: A.M. Visit the Nech Sar park which covers about 540 square Kilometers has an altitude of 1108 – 1650 m. Animals to be seen include Bruchell’s Zebra, greater Kudu, Guenther’dik-dik, the Grant’s gazelle and the endemic Swayne’s hartebeest. You can also see divers bird like bustards, horn bills and others. In the afternoon - Boat trip on lake Chamo to see Crocodiles and Hippos.

Day 11: Arba Minch – Konso – Weito – Jinka. After breakfast drive to Jinka via Konso, the people of Konso are reputed for their terracin farming and enroute vist tribes like Ari, Benna, Tsemai.

Day 12: Jinka – Mursi – Jinka. This morning after breakfast you will drive to Mago National Park where you can see some animals like Dafassa water buck, greater and lesser kudu. Gernuk, Bruchell’s zebra, topis Lelwel hartebeest with some luck, buffalo and others. Visit the Mursi tribes who are famous for their women with clay plates on their lips. Drive back to Jinka.

Day 13: Turmi – Kei Afer – Dimeka – Turmi. Trip to Turmi home of Hammer people who are masters of body decoration. The Hammer who number about 50,000 are agropastoralists. They cultivate sorghum, millet, cotton, tobacco and vegetables as well as rear cattle and goats. Thier important diet is wild Honey. Camping

Day 14: Turmi – Omorate – Turmi. This day you will cross the river Omo to visit Omorate, Dassanech people and back to Turmi. Camping.

Day 15: Turmi – Erbore – Weito - Konso - Yabello. Numerous stop overs to see different tribes on the way to Yabello like Erbore, Tsamako etc. Hotel.

Day 16: Yabello – Elsod – Yabello. Visit the Borona people and the “singing wells”.

Day 17: Yabello – Hagere Mariam – Yirga Alem. After breakfast you will drive to Yirga Alem through coffee plantation region and attractive villages.

Day 18: Yirga Alem – Addis Abeba via the Rift Valley Lakes.

Day 19: City tour of Addis Abeba. Addis Abeba, the capital city of Ethiopia, hosts the African Union, AU, the Economic Commission for Africa, ECA, United NationsEconomuc Commission for Africa, UNECA, and other international organizations. City tour includes visit of National Museum which exhibits numerous relics, archeological findings from prehistoric times to the modern day and the skeleton of the early hominid ‘Lucy’, 3.5 million years old are among the most interesting. Ethological museum exhibits an overview of Ethiopian crafts, culture and art.

Drive to mount Entoto which provides a panoramic view of Addis Abeba and also the Awash and Blue Nileriver cathment area. Visit the Selassie cathedral, Trinity, the best cathedral in town and also the burial place of the late Emperor. City tour includes also Merkato, the biggest open air market in Africa. Diner in a traditional restaurant with music and dances of different tribes and departure.

Day 20: Arrival in Italy.
