Tour Itinerary:

Day 1, Saturday: Arrive in Christchurch – the garden city some time today. We will collect you from the airport and transfer you to your accomodation. (accommodation venue to be advised). We all meet at 3pm. for introductions to fellow travelers and hosts over afternoon tea. This evening is free. Accommodation and light refreshment supplied.

Day 2, Sunday: Depart Christchurch, cross the Canterbury plains into the vast MacKenzie country via Burkes Pass. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd; hear the story of Mackenzie’s dog, enjoy Lake Tekapo, Mt John observatory then on to Mt Cook. Stand in awe of the grandeur of New Zealand’s highest mountain and surrounding park. If time permits and the body is willing, enjoy a walk around the base of Mt Cook. Travel back around the shores of Lake Pukaki through to Twizel and on to Omarama. Breakfast, Accomodation and entry to everywhere today is inclusive to tour package.

Day 3, Monday: Leaving Omarama we head east to the Pacific ocean, passing by the hydro lakes of Benmore, Avimore and Waitake through to Oamaru stopping at the famous Moeraki boulders before arriving at Dunedin (Edinburgh of the South). We drive out to Tairoa heads and visit the Albatross Colony and Larnach Castle. This evening you may wander about the inner city, taking in the sights. Breakfast, Accomodation, Entry to Larnach, Albatross Center inclusive to tour package.

Day 4, Tuesday: We then travel south en-route to Invercargill (New Zealand’s southernmost city). Weather permitting you will discover the hidden beauty of Queens gardens. No trip south is complete until you visit Bluff – Uttermost part of the earth. Breakfast, and accommodation supplied.

Day 5, Wednesday: Leave Invercargill, travel via the fertile Central Otago passing through the town of Lumsden en-route to Queenstown - regarded by many as the “Jewel in the Crown” of the South Island. It does have much to offer. Picturesque setting on the shores of Lake Wakatipu you have the choice of cafe’s restaurants, arts, crafts, souvenirs, shops plus many scenic and action packed attractions. We take a short stop at Kingston to check out NZ's famous vintage steam train the Kingston flyer. Then we indulge you with a tour of Arrowtown. A thriving community in the Gold rush era, and today it is beautifully restored to that same ambiance. Breakfast, accommodation and tour of Arrowtown supplied.

Day 6, Thursday: Options are now available to you. Today is free for you to choose your activities. Ride the Gondola and enjoy the stunning views and or dine the evening away up in the restaurant. Take a wine and or garden tour. Maybe indulge in a Lord of the Rings tour. Cruise on the TSS Earnslaw. Take a coffee cruise or a luncheon cruise or a dinner cruise to Walter Peak. This is a must while in Queenstown.

Indulge with a beauty spa or if golf is your passion - try Millbrook - owned by Michael Hill. Go shopping, or take a stroll along the lakefront. Take an exhilarating spin up the Shotover River in a awesome jet boat. Maybe you are brave enough to bungy off the Kawerau Bridge. Maybe you wish to take a day trip to Milford Sound and take in a cruise. This too we can highly recommend. Queenstown is the idyllic paradise. Indulge and enjoy. Please advise in advance which option you would like us to book for you. Breakfast and accommodation supplied.

Day 7, Friday: Today we travel north passing over the crown range, through Wanaka, Haast Pass, skirting some of the beautiful Southern Lakes en-route to Fox and Franz Josef Glacier. You will now be experiencing West Coast community spirit and hospitality, combined with ancient glaciers, primeval rainforest, untamed and accessible wilderness. You can view the glaciers from a distance, or walk for 4 hours on the glacier, or take a helicopter and land on the glacier. An experience you will never regret. We guarantee to immerse you in Glacier country, glacier beauty and glacier knowledge. Alternatively, if you are looking for peace and relaxation amongst our native bush, take a leisurely stroll around Lake Matheison. Breakfast and accommodation, entry to the Glacier center supplied.

Day 8, Saturday: Travel North to Hokitika, where we visit the Jade factory. We leave our coach at the next point and board the Tranz-Alpine scenic train. This train journey winds its way through the awesome Southern Alps, from coast to coast through Arthur’s Pass back to Christchurch. This is rated as one of the world's greatest scenic railway journeys. Breakfast, accommodation and Tranz-Alpine fare supplied

Day 9, Sunday: This morning we attend Christchurch Cathedral Church Service (optional). The Cathedral is one of the most magnificent churches in New Zealand. After church you can explore the inner city by riding on a restored tram and taking in all the wonderful sites Christchurch has to offer. Later in the day we will take a drive to Sumner beach and if time permits we will take in the Gethsemane Gardens and Lyttleton. Alternatively the Antarctic center is an option. Breakfast, accommodation and entry to Gethsemane or Antarctic Center supplied.

Day 10, Monday: Visit Akaroa, quaint, French settlement on Banks Peninsula. One of the South Islands oldest towns. Today is at your leisure. Enjoy a harbor cruise, or relax in this historical little village. This evening we dine in style as we share a farewell dinner together. Breakfast, tour to Akaroa and farewell dinner and accommodation inclusive to tour package.

Day 11, Tuesday: This morning your journey ends, and depending on what time you are scheduled to depart Christchurch will determine what we do this morning. You will bid farewell to your new found friends and we will transfer you to the airport for your travel homewards as required.
