It was here in 1926 that Bobby Jones won the British Open Championship.His legendary shot to the 17th green is commemorated by a plaque. Built in 1869, on what was then the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club, Hoylake, as it is more commonly known, is one of the oldest English seaside courses which lies at the very heart of the history and development of golf in Britain. Situated next door to Royal Birkdale, Hillside is widely regarded as the best links never to have hosted the Open Championship. The links provides a variety of holes in a majestic setting that will test the best players. The course is well known for its wonderful conditioning with very slick greens.
