Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival - Yerevan - Sightseeing tour
- Arrival in Yerevan at Zvartnots Airport.
- Passport control, issuing of visas.
- Accommodation in the Hotel.
- After some rest you will have excursion around Yerevan City.
– You will visit The State Museum of Armenian History. The State Museum of Armenian History and the National Gallery of Armenia are situated together at Republic Square in the center of the city. With their extensive collections of artwork and historical artifacts, the Museum and Gallery can give visitors a good general understanding of the history and culture of Armenia’s people. Free evening.
Day 2: Yerevan – Hovanavank – Saghmosavank – Amberd – Tegher village
In the early morning, after breakfast. Hiking trip to Marz of Aragatsotn. This Marz is in the western part of Armenia and surrounded there sides of Mount Aragatsts (Aragats is the highest mountain of Armenia. It has four picks. The northern pick is the highest one and it is 4091 m above the sea level). The capital Ashtarak is built on ancient settlement and has many historical sites. On the way, you will visit the monasteries of Hovanavank and Saghmosavank ( built in 1215 and 1216) – Fortress and church of Amberd. The princely castle of Amberd was built in the 11th to 13thn centuries.
A two-storied structure fitted with a majestic staircase, the castle is protected by walls with inclined towers. The baths were constructed outside the palace in the 13th century. The church of Amberd was built in 1026 by Prince Vahram Pahlavouni. It belongs to the cupola’s hall type. The 4 exterior architecture is simple and expressive, crowded by an umbrella shaped cupola. Bring a lunch along because it is a perfect spot to relax, go back in time, and catch your breath. After lunch, trekking to Tegher village. Then, you will visit the unique Church of Saint Mary’s (1213), where you will be able to see amazing panorama of the Holy Ararat Mountain an Valley. Overnight at the private sector.
Day 3: Yerevan – Geghard – Garni (3 hours walk)
- Breakfast.
– Tour to a fantastic sample of medieval Armenian architecture
– Geghard Cave Monastery (13th century) a UNESCO site. The name refers to the Holy Lance which according to the legend was kept here. The temple is cut into the side of a cliff and surrounded with ancient gravestones. The secret of amazing acoustics in the church has never been found. From Grghard, you will walk along the canyon, by the beautiful columnar basalt and the stone bridge of the 9th Century over the Azat River to the Pagan Temple of Garni, built in the half of the 1 Century AD. In the 1679 was destroyed by the earthquake. In the 1975 the Temple was restored.
- Lunch and dinner at the “Tavern” Restaurant. Overnight at Garni village.
Day 4: Yerevan – Lake Sevan – Dilijan
No trip to Armenia is ever complete without a visit to the lake Sevan, one of the largest and highest lakes in Eurasia at about 1, 900 meters above the sea level. At lake Sevan you will visit Hairavank Monastery (9-12 cc).
- Tour will continue to Dilijan - one of the main resorts in Armenia, which is surrounded by very old in history natural woods. Many wild ancestors of berries and fruit trees are found here.
– You will visit Parz lich Lake.
- Lunch.
- Trekking from Lake of Parzlich along the ridge of Areguni to Monastery of Goshavank (3hours).
– Visit to Monastery of Goshavank. Overnight in the guest house in Diligan. Hiking 4 hours.
Day 5: Dilijan – Haghartsin – Qajbulakh
Breakfast: Tour to Dilijan. For those who are interested in history and medieval architecture, Dilijan holds quite a few attractions. One of them is Haghartsin Monastery. The monastery may be described as a school of architecture. It took about 300 years to built with every generation of architects adding on new structures so factually that they enhanced and blended with the design of the their predecessors and the natural surroundings. Lunch. From Haghartsin monastery trekking to Qachbulakh. Overnight in Qachbulakh. Hiking 4 hours.
Day 6: Qachbulakh – Berzner- Okon
Breakfast: Trekking from Qachablukh – Berzner, continuing along to Okon. Lunch in mountain village. Hiking to Hripsime Spring, known for its healing powers. Overnight in the tents in Okon. Hiking 6 hours.
Day 7: Okon – Kamut - Okon
Breakfast: Hiking from Okon to Kamut. Then we will hiking through forests and walleyes as we travel to Snow - Pocket (1800 – 1900 m). Hiking 7 hours. Lastiver. - Gomer – Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Okon – Gomer- Krana Taxt – Servansi Xach - Gomer
Breakfast. Hiking to Gomer. From Gomer walking tour to Krana Txt (1000m). They will pass through the forest. Visit Snt. Cross church, beautiful khachkars (cross stones), (4 hours). Lunch in Gomer. Trekking Gomer– Servansi Xach, by the way visit the unique villages where we will be able to meet local people and admire the local traditions. (hiking 5 hours). After you may work together with the smith in the smithy, making horse shoes.
Day 9: Gomer - Harsnakar
Breakfast: Trekking from Gomer to Harsnakar. Hiking 4 hours.
Day 10: Harsnakar – Makaravank - Alaverdi
Breakfast: Trekking from Harsnakar to Makaravank monastery (12century). Rest and lunch. Overnight in Alaverdi. Hiking 7 hours.
Day 11: Alaverdi - Monasteries Haghpat and Sanahin - Alaverdi
Breakfast: Visit Monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin (10 -13th cc) (UNESCO sites). Trekking from Sanahin to Kobayr monastery (12-13th cc.) Lunch. Return to Alaverdi town. Overnight at Alavedi.
Day 12: Alaverdi - Ejmiatsin - Yerevan
Breakfast: Breakfast: Tour to Echmiadzin – the religious capital of Armenia. Legend tells that it was here that Jesus Christ descended from Heaven to show, where he wanted a church to be built. Echmiadzin means “The Coming of Only Beggoten”. We also enjoy the stop by the Church of Holy Virgin Hripsime, the bright sample of medieval architecture of the 7th century, where we have a splendid panorama of 2 highest mountains in the area – Ararat and Aragats. Zvartnots Cathedral (7th century) Lunch. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel “Golden Tulip.”
Day 13: Departure.
