Begin your trek in Antigua by hiking out of town up a nearby ridge line and through the cloud forests that occupy the highlands around Antigua Valley. Drop into a tiny little mountain town El Hato and stay at a quaint and small hotel and working avacado farm. From there we head in the direction of the Lake Atitlán. Cross table lands and rolling hills and hike down into and back out of the ravines that separate them. On your trek you will get to experience a side of Guatemalan culture and countryside that few other travelers ever see.
Three days after leaving the Antigua Valley we will drop down the bowl of the lake into one of its least explored areas and relax a bit before moving on. The hike continues out the other side of the lake's caldera on through more rolling hills and outright mountains that we have to skirt. Two more days in the lush cloud forest back country brings us down right into natural hot springs where we soak our bodies and end the trip. Notes: Rates vary depending on type of overnight accommodations - camping, budget, mid-range, high-end - requested, whether or not you would like to be met at the airport and if you choose to participate in any optional activities.
