Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Ljubljana – Motovun.
In the morning we leave Ljubljana and drive on a comfortable freeway south about two hour to the Slvenian Karst region. (There is an option of visiting the famous caves but it will cut into your walking time.) We will start walking in small village Podpec located right below the limestone cliffs of the Karst. An one and one-half hour walk will take us through the vineyards to another village, Hrastovlje. The old church in Hrastovlje has unique collection of medieval frescoes; its most famous one is called The Dance Macabre. We will picnic or lunch in local restaurant (the restaurant is not open every day). In the afternoon we’ll have a walk to Gracisce, then a short drive to the border with Croatia. We’ll continue on to Motovun via Buzet and Istarske Toplice. . Dinner and overnight is in hotel Kastiel on the very top of this hill town.

Day 2: Motovun – Rovinj.
Today we walk around to several villages before leaving Motovun in the morning and drive to Porec. Here you will see a different kind of Istria. Porec is the old fishing town with its church listed as a World Heritage Site. We can explore the town. (Lunch is on your own and not included in the tour.) After lunch, we drive to Rovinj - the most beautiful town on Istria and one of the most beautiful on the whole Dalmatian Coast. Hotel Angelo D'oro should please even the most demanding travelers. Day 3: Rovinj and Pula.
Today you have the first half of the day to explore Rovinj. In the afternoon we will take a short walk along the beach in the area and then go to visit by van the amphitheatre in Pula. This is one of the six largest Roman amphitheatres existing today. It was built by Claudius and enlarged in 79 AD for gladiator fights. The evening and dinner is on your own in Rovinj. Day 4: Rovinj – Mali Losinj.
We leave Rovinj in the morning and drive two hours (via Pazin to Brestova) to catch the ferry to Rogozina on the island of Cres. On Cres we experience a very different world from busy Rovinj.. You will walk from Lubenice to Martincica. There are thousands and thousands of olive trees on the gentle slopes above the town. Lubenice is village about 4000 years old located on the top of the cliff. Only about 20 people still live here. There are great views of the island along the walk. We will transfer to Mali Losinj for the night. Overnight: 4-star Apoksiomen Hotel, Mali Losinj. Meals: B, L, D
Day 5: Hikes in the area of Mali Losinj.
Losinj is very different from Cres. Its pine forests and pleasant climate brought it to the attention of the Austrian aristocracy a long time ago. The first spa was established here in the late of 19th century. Our walk will take us to Veli Losinj, a tiny old harbour at the end of the world. The sea around Losinj island is thick with dolphins and a small research center for them has been established in Veli Losinj. We can visit the small exhibit about the dolphins. We can also walk along the ridge in the middle of the island where you can see everything. Overnight is in the old harbor in the newly refurbished hotel Apoksiomen (named after the ancient Greek statue found lately on the island). Dinner is on your own tonight and not included in the tour. Overnight: 4-star Apoksiomen Hotel, Mali Losinj. Meals: B, L
Day 6: Mali Losinj - Rab.
Toda is a 5 hour van transfer that will take us across the sea to the pearl of Kvarner Islands (the official name of this archipelago) to the island of Rab. For groups of 6 or more there is anThe north side of the island is bare, beaten by the constant wind (the bura) but the southern side of Rab has plenty of water and fertile land. You will never forget the beauty of this place! We will walk and explore the town of Rab. Overnight: 4-star Ros Maris Hotel, Rab. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7: Rab to Trogir via a national park. At the end of the day we transfer to Trogir (a Unesco town near the Split airport) where the trip ends.

This itinerary averages 3-5 hours walking per day on moderate terrain. The mileage and destinations visited can be customized to your preferences. Inclusions: lodging 6 nights in 3-4 star properties; meals as indicated; van transportation and driver; English speaking guide; entrance fees; ferry transfers within itinerary (does not include ferry to Dubrovnik); private boat transfer from Losinj to Rab. Itinerary is available for groups as small as 2 persons. Pricing varies depending on size of group. Not recommended for July and August as the weather is too hot.
