It is about a 2 hour drive from Antigua to our sleepy and isolated put in spot at la Avellena. You will spend several hours the first morning paddling through, getting lost in and finding your way back out of Guatemala's beautiful Pacific Coastal Mangrove Canals. Eat great seafood and hike along the beach and to a nearby sea turtle and marine life conservation project. You spend the night in a lovely ocean front hotel which gives you the opportunity to go for a dawn swim in the ocean and enjoy a couple more great meals, not to mention more time on day 2 to investigate the mysteries of the mangroves.
