We'll leave Jerusalem via Hebron Rd. south to Har Homa overlooking Bethlehem to King Herod Lost Tomb at Herodium. In about 1 hour we'll climb the fortress / palace peak overlooking the Judean desert, and crawl at its many tunnels to understand King Herod the Great, my hero. From here we'll start driving off road to cross the Judean Desert which is Rain shadow.
We'll visit the Bedouin tribe "Rashaida", have a donkey ride and learn more about those people that prefer their traditional way of life not so different to our ancestors then to join the modern world. Going down to the lowest point on earth the Dead Sea, we'll visit the Cliffs Nature reserve located on the Great Rift Valley. We'll learn about the Plate tectonics. On our way we'll visit a cave which was used as a Cistern.
Picnic lunch and herb tea will be served on a beautiful observation over looking the Moabite mountains and the Dead Sea. By passing the great canyon of Wadi Darga will give us a great observation point on the lower part of this fantastic canyon and also a place to remember Bar Kokhba revolt as here some of the famous scrolls were found. Metzoke Dragot is a unique desert resort, we can have an ice cream and start driving on asphalt road back to your hotel.
Optional: Swim at Mineral beach or visit Qumran.
If time permits, a quick observation on St. George Monastery.
