Kilimanjaro from your lodge in Amboseli Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Nairobi Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, after disembarking from the aircraft, you clear customs and immigration formalities. You will be met and assisted by our Ashford Tours and Travel representative and transferred to your Nairobi Hotel, which is situated within the city centre. The day is at leisure. Overnight at Nairobi Safari Club. Day 2: Nairobi – Tree Hotel (Aberdares National Park) Drive via lush Kikuyu land to your all night game viewing lodge. From the balcony of the lodge you can see game coming to drink from the flood-lit waterhole. Overnight at Treetop Lodge or the Ark Hotel. Includes: (B, L, D). Day 3: Aberdares - Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha Breakfast at your lodge. Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for Lunch and game drive in the park. Continue to Lake Naivasha – the highest and purest of the Great Rift Valley lakes. This area is famous for its birdlife – a breeding ground for pelicans, fish eagles, cormorants and more. You will also find other animals such as hippos, zebra antelopes, colobus monkeys. Over night at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge or Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge on full board basis. Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara Game Reserve Traverse the Rift Valley and ascend its western rim into the Masai land. Red-clad, with spear Masai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, admirably unmoved by the presence of large predators. Afternoon game drive in search of wildlife. Overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge based on full board. Day 5: Full day in Maasai Mara Game Reserve Morning and afternoon game drives in this spectacular game reserve, all with superb photographic opportunities. The most spectacular feature is the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from the plains of Serengeti that cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara’s grasslands from late June, tracked by predators: lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and circled by vultures as the journey unfolds. Apart from the seasonal migration, game viewing is excellent year round. Game includes: - elephant, Black Rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, hartebeest, various antelope and gazelle, lion, leopard, giraffe, elephant cheetah, hippo, crocodile and much more. DAY 6: Maasai Mara - Isebania - Serengeti National Park After breakfast depart with picnic lunch to Isebania border where you will clear customs and board the Tanzanian Vehicles. Drive to your lodge situated in the Serengeti National Park with a game drive enroute. This enormous park supports every variety of animals imaginable - from large predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah to the smaller herbivores they prey on. Overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge based on full board. Day 7: Full day in Serengeti National Park Breakfast at your lodge. Morning and afternoon game drives. More than two million wildebeest, Thompson’s gazelle and zebra gather during the migration, attracting a great deal of attention from their predators such as lion, hyena, cheetah and leopard. Overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge based on full board. Day 8: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater After breakfast drive to drive to Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Continue to your lodge situated on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. The crater covers over 250 square kilometers (over 100 square miles) of land and is the home of the rare black rhino, prides of lion, elephant, cheetah and great herds of buffalo, antelope and wildebeest. Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge full board basis. Day 9: Full day in Ngorongoro Crater Today you will descend 600m (0ver 2000 feet) to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkey and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge full board basis. Day 10: Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara National Park Breakfast at your lodge. Drive to Lake Manyara famous for its prolific bird-life and other inhabitants such as hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions Lunch at your lodge. This afternoon you will drive down for a game drive. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Hotel full board basis. Day 11: Lake Manyara - Arusha – Amboseli National Park After breakfast drive to Arusha to arrive in time for lunch at Impala Hotel. Transfer to Namanga border where you clear customs and meet your Kenya guides again. Board the Kenyan vehicles and drive to Amboseli National Park. Enjoy an evening game drive en-route to your lodge. Overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge full board basis. Day 12: Amboseli National Park A full day in Amboseli with game drives, all meals and overnight at your lodge. Amboseli National Park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at 5,896 meters, is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts - lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle, hippo and wildebeest to name but a few.
