- Visits to some of England's most powerful sacred sites
Each summer the greatest unexplained phenomenon of our time is played out in fields of grain. Every year in England scores of geometric symbols and beautiful patterns appear in the crop fields, particularly in the county of Wiltshire. This magical landscape includes not only the majority of crop circles, but also some of England's most remarkable ancient sacred sites.
Join us in early August, at the height of the crop circle season, and explore this amazing mystery for yourself. We have access to the information network that provides breaking news on the latest formations and so we set off in search of new crop circles within hours of them forming, when their energy is strongest.
Try dowsing for this and earth energy currents that often link the circles to local sacred sites. You may walk barefoot on the newly laid crop, sit in meditation in the center of a recent formation, dance and sing with the flow of the energy or try to puzzle out what the pattern is. The tour will be led by Glenn and Cameron Broughton with guest researchers meeting our group from time to time. It is a 10-day tour based exclusively in Marlborough in the heart of crop circle country and very close to Avebury and many other remarkable sacred sites.
Included in the tour is attendance at the Crop Circle Conference in Marlborough organised by the Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group. There will be international crop circle researchers present and a variety of presentations covering many different aspects of this amazing phenomenon as well as related topics. This conference is unique in being held just yards away from Merlin’s Mound, a 5,000 year old sacred site with a remarkable story to tell. A high spot of the tour! You will have the opportunity to take a flight above these exquisite cosmic works of art in a small chartered helicopter!
Sacred Sites - This part of England has an abundance of very special sacred sites.
- Stonehenge - where our group will have exclusive access to this world famous ancient monument for a private visit outside of normal hours.
- Glastonbury on the fabled Isle of Avalon, including:
* Glastonbury Abbey – once the largest and most powerful abbey in all of England, It is also the reputed burial place of King Arthur & Queen Guinevere.
* Glastonbury Tor – a natural hill, topped with St. Michael's tower, rises majestically from the surrounding Somerset Levels and acts as a beacon of spirituality, as it has done since Pagan times, for people of all beliefs. The Michael and Mary earth energy currents associated with the St Michael leyline form the most magical and alchemical pattern upon the Tor.
* Chalice Well – possibly England's most sacred holy well, this is a perfect place to spend some time in reflection and meditation.
- Avebury Landscape Temple - the heart centre of Megalithic Britain. All the sacred sites in this area centre on Avebury, including Stonehenge some twenty miles distant, and they are all interconnected by powerful earth energy currents.
We will visit:
* Avebury Henge – the largest stone circle in the world
* The Sanctuary – a former stone circle at the head of a mile-and-a-quarter long avenue of stones leading to Avebury
* Knoll Down – a natural cathedral of trees at the 'tail of the serpent temple'
* Silbury Hill – a huge artificial mound with remarkable energetic properties
* West Kennet Long Barrow – an ancient underground chamber with powerful acoustics
* Merlin's Mound & Morgan's Hill – profound sacred sites reflecting male/female energies either side of Avebury
Note: the schedule for the tour will be partly determined by the crop formations as they appear. We are sure to experience some exciting and spontaneous changes to our itinerary by the unpredictability of this amazing phenomenon!
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Friday 7th: Your tour guides, Glenn and Cameron Broughton, will meet the group at Heathrow airport after your overnight flight. We will travel in comfortable minibuses to our hotel in Marlborough, Wiltshire. You will have time to rest up, or take lunch and then explore this charming market town. Marlborough received its royal charter as a town 800 years ago and has a fine selection of buildings from many periods in history. It has the widest High street in England where street markets are still held. It also has Merlin’s Mound, a 5,000-year-old sacred site that gives the town its name.
There is a good range of shops, cafes, restaurants, markets and pubs readily available as our hotel is situated right in the centre of town. The hills and fields around the town are a popular venue for crop circles as is the whole surrounding countryside. The majority of crop circles each year occur within 15 miles of our hotel.
Welcome orientation and introductions followed by dinner. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2, Saturday 8th: You’ve seen the pictures and now’s your chance to personally experience the crop circles first-hand. Your expert tour guides, who have been into hundreds of formations over the last fifteen years, will show you what to look for and how to dowse for any energies present. At various times during the tour we will be joined by some of the top crop circle researchers who will share their views, knowledge and expertise with us. What better way to learn all about this amazing phenomenon than by being in the circles in the fields and having experts on hand to guide us.
We will spend the morning visiting crop circles then attend the Crop Circle Conference in Marlborough organized by the Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group. This event is held adjacent to Merlin’s Mound and within walking distance of our hotel. There will be international crop circle researchers present and a variety of presentations covering many different aspects of this amazing phenomenon as well as related topics. Free-choice dinner in Marlborough not included in tour price.
Day 3, Sunday 9th: Crop Circle Conference. Free-choice dinner in Marlborough not included in tour price.
Day 4, Monday 10th: After breakfast we will visit any new crop circles. After lunch we explore Avebury, the heart centre of megalithic Britain. Here, within the largest stone circle in the world, we find the remains of two former stone circles, one solar and one lunar. All the sacred sites in this area centre on Avebury, including Stonehenge some twenty miles distant. Powerful earth energy currents course through this landscape and this may be one reason why the majority of crop circles occur within a 10-mile radius of Avebury. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5, Tuesday 11th: Today we visit more components of the Avebury Landscape Temple including the remarkable five thousand year old Silbury Hill. We will visit West Kennet Long Barrow, an underground chamber used both as a tomb and a place of initiation, which has wonderful acoustics. Knoll Down, a tranquil sacred grove of trees, was once connected to Avebury by an avenue of stones stretching for over a mile in length. In the afternoon we will visit any crop circles situated close by the ancient sacred sites we have visited.
Free-choice dinner in Marlborough not included in tour price.
Day 6, Wednesday 12th: We will spend the whole of this day in Glastonbury, otherwise known as the Isle of Avalon. Glastonbury Abbey, the birthplace of Christianity in England and referred to as the ‘holiest earth in England’, was once the largest and most powerful abbey in all of Britain. It is no coincidence that the dual energy currents of England’s most famous leyline cross at the site of the high altar. A grave in the centre of the Abbey ruins is reputed to have been the resting place of King Arthur and Guinevere.
Rising dramatically from the flat land of the surrounding Somerset Levels, the huge natural mound of the Tor, surmounted by St. Michael’s tower, has been a beacon of spirituality since pagan times and still acts as a magnet for people of all beliefs. You will hear the stories and the legends as well as experience the powerful energy and atmosphere of this sacred site. Plus the views from the top are spectacular!
We conclude our day in Glastonbury with a visit to the beautiful and tranquil gardens of Chalice Well, one of the true healing places in this land where you are encouraged to drink from the holy well. A local legend states that the Holy Grail is hidden within the wellhead. Glastonbury is full of unusual shops selling everything from candles and incense to colourful clogs, books and Goddess statues that you can peruse at your leisure during a long lunch break. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 7, Thursday 13th: Free morning after yesterday’s long day. Afternoon visits to crop circles. Free-choice dinner in Marlborough not included in tour price.
Day 8, Friday 14th: Other ancient sacred sites in the area include Morgan’s Hill, Windmill Hill and the Sanctuary. Our itinerary will be flexible according to the locations of new crop circles and which sites are nearby. For those who choose the helicopter flight, we’re off to the local airfield for a flight above the Circlemakers’ exquisite cosmic works of art in small chartered helicopters – truly the high spot of the tour for many! Those not flying will have a free afternoon. We will have an early dinner in Amesbury. (included in tour price).
We end the day with an evening visit to Stonehenge. We have arranged for the group to have private special access into the stones of the world's most famous sacred site. Touch the huge megaliths which have stood in magnificent isolation on the windswept Salisbury Plain for thousands of years, feel the pulse of powerful earth energy currents coursing beneath your feet, imagine the ceremonies which have been performed by robed priests over aeons of time or just sit in quiet meditation. This is a rare opportunity to truly experience a site revered by countless generations. We will conduct a ceremony within the sacred circle.
