Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart USA.

Depart from your US gateway on your overnight flight to France (not included).

Day 2: Lyon.

Arrive Lyon and transfer (optional) to the Princesse de Provence, your home for the next seven nights on the Saone River. After embarkation relax on the sun deck or stroll the charming streets of this gastronomic capital of France.

Day 3: Tournus and Chalon sur Saone.

This morning, you'll arrive in Tournus, situated in the Southern Burgundy region, where you'll embark on a full day tour. Your first stop is the well known Chateau du Clos de Vougeot, a historic castle from the Middle Ages and home to four monumental wine process. Continue to the nearby Chateau de la Tour, the largest and one of the most important producers of the Clos de Vougeot, to enjoy the first of many degustations on our tour.

Next, you'll drive the Cote de Nuits wine road to Beaune, before arriving in the region of Pommard. Here, a family of winegrowers will welcome you for a wonderful lunch and tasting of several different Burgundy wines. Before returning to the ship, you'll stop at the Cote Chalonnaise, where you'll have the opportunity to taste some younger vintages, as well as the sparking wine Cremant de Bourgogne, a renowned wine in this region.

Day 4: Macon and Trevoux.

Awake this morning in the town of Macon, which marks the border between Burgundy and the Lyonnais regions. This morning you'll explore the wine country of Maconnais. Your tastings will feature fabulous & fresh white wines, such as Saint Veran, Loche and Pouilly-Fuisse. Enjoy lunch on-board while cruising to Trevoux, where an included afternoon excursion will introduce you to the Beaujolais Wine Country, including a visit and tasting with a local producer.

Day 5: Tournon.

After your arrival in Tournon, your included excursion begins with a short drive to a wonderful overlook, for a breathtaking panoramic view of the French Alps and the Rhone Valley. Your next stop will be a visit to one of the major wineries of the Cotes du Rhone, Chapoutier, where you'll have the opportunity to taste different wines of the region such as St. Joseph, Cote-Rotie and Hermitage.

Day 6: Arles and Avignon.

Awake to the rich light and color of Provence that permeated the canvases of Van Gogh and Cezanne. Enjoy the morning at your leisure to explore the beautiful Roman town of Arles. This afternoon, your excursion takes you through the Baux de Provence, overlooking its rich valley and orchards of olive trees, as you travel to the remote and hidden vineyard Romanin. The location & natural environment of this vineyard is crucial to growing the vines, which are cultivated using biodynamic methods. Enjoy a walking tour through this unique winery, and take in the beautiful views of the Alpilles in the background.

Day 7: Avignon.

This morningyour excursion takes you to the Chateau de Clary, home of the Wine & Tast Academy, for a wine tasting lesson. Learn how to describe a wine's color, flavor and more. And no wine lover could leave Avignon without visiting Chateauneuf du Pape! Your tour includes a visit to a wine cellar to taste both red & white wines of this appellation.

Day 8: Vienne and Lyon.

Relax and enjoy the sights this morning while you cruise to the town of Vienne. An afternoon excursion will take you for a visit of Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France, including the Fourviere Hill for beautiful views over the city and countryside.

Day 9: Lyon.

Disembark the ship and transfer (optional) to the airport for your flight (not included) to the US.
