Volcano Tronador is without doubts the best area of Northern Patagonia to improve mountaineering skills crevasse rescue and glacier travel technique. Using the Meiling Hut as base camp (1950 m.o.s.l.) we only need to walk a few minutes to get on the ice of the glacier. Tronador counts with 3 summits that makes of this beautiful mountain an ideal terrain to develop the technique of every mountaineer. Level: beginners/advanced. Glacier travel technique, ice climbing, crevasse rescue and self rescue technique, training for alpine ascensions. Location: Tronador is situated in Northern Patagonia, lake district, at 90 km from the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. Meiling Hut, situated at 1950 m.o.s.l is surrounded by the Castaņo Overo and Alerce glaciers. How to get: 4 a 5 hours trek from Pampa Linda (base of Tronador). Vertical drop 1000 meters.
