Sound of Silence tours arose because this time of the year is the time when the wilderness awakes from the early winter. You will witness the birds coming back from the south and tracks from wolverim, lynx and perhaps from an early awoken bear. The sun is up longer by now and you will enjoy the warm feeling from this while you are mushing. Hence, our routes are also longer, the tracks are smoother and harder, and the dogs runs faster.
When you arrive in Lapland, Storuman airport, you will go by car the last 100 km to Umnäs. The first thing we will do in Umnäs is to go and say hello to the dogs. After that we will have dinner at host home or something lighter like sandwich. We also take a look on what gear and clothes you need to borrow from us. We talk about the tour and how to mush the sled and dogs. The first night you will sleep in a nice Swedish home near your host and the dog yard.
This time of year the mushing is normally extremely nice. On the tour we decide from day to day what route we take. If we have cold nights we can mush on the hard snow during the day over beautiful mountain plateaus and valleys.
