Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi. Welcome at the airport by your local guide and transfer to the hotel. After check-in, climb into a traditional cycle (pedicab) for a 90-minute tour of the colonial city's traditional "36 streets of 36 ware" in the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake vicinity. In the evening enjoy a traditional water puppet show before dinner at one of the finest restaurants in town. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Hanoi City - Lao Cai. Half-day tour of Vietnam's capital city, including Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and traditional stilt house, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. Pay visits to typical Vietnamese places of worship. Just before lunch, tour Vietnam's first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature. In the afternoon visit to the Ethnology Museum and then time for you to test your bike to make sure you have great and comfortable bike for the big journey. Transfer back to the hotel for shower. After dinner at the restaurant in town, transfer to the Hanoi railway station for a night train up to Lao Cai. Overnight on the train. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Lao Cai - Bac Ha. Arrive at Lao Cai railway station around 6:00 a.m. The bikes are waiting for you at the station, you will have breakfast at local restaurant than drive for 20 minutes before getting on your bike, start a whole day biking on small routes through jungle to Bac Ha. Arrive Bac Ha late in the afternoon, check in hotel. Dinner and over night at Sao Mai hotel in Bac Ha. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: Bac Ha - Cab Cau - Bac Ha. After breakfast, transfer up to Can Cau to visit the market of String H'mong people. After market and some shopping, hop on your bike for down hill riding from Can Cau to Ba Ha with stop to visit the Castle of King H'mong near Bac Ha. Lunch will be at the hotel. Afternoon, an easy hike up to the Hmong village and the school for Ethnic Minorities groups in and around Bac Ha. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Bac Ha-Lao Cai-Sa Pa. Today, you visit Bac Ha market which take place every Sunday morning. A wonderful market great for photos and shopping. Lunch at local restaurant or at Sao Mai hotel. Afternoon, get on your bike for riding downhill to Bao Nhai where a boat trip of 3 hours take you up and down along Coc Ly river. Drive up to Sapa and arrive at the end of the day. Dinner at local restaurant and over night at hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Sapa-Village. Today, set off on a light and easy cycling down into the lush Sapa Valley to explore the Black H'mong and Red Dzao villages with picnic lunch en route. Return to Sapa at the end of the day. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight at the hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Sapa-Binh Lu-Sapa. Full day biking up to Heaven gate and Binh Lu with picnic lunch en route. Return to Sapa at the end of the day. Dinner and over night at the hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: Sapa-Ta Phin-Lao Cai-Hanoi. An easy morning cycling downhill to Lao Cai with stop en route to visit Ta Phin village (the Red Dzao group). Visit the Sino border in Lao Cai. Dinner at local restaurant. Drive to station where you leave your bike behind for the night train back to Hanoi. Over night on the train. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9: Hanoi-Ha Long-Kayaking. Arrive Hanoi early in the morning. Pick up and transfer to restaurant in town for breakfast. Depart Hanoi for Halong Bay and arrive around noon. Board a traditional wooden junk and begin your exploration of magical Halong Bay, one of Southeast Asia's premier tourist destinations. An excellent, fresh seafood lunch will be served on the boat while cruise to the most beautiful areas in Halong for afternoon paddling. About 2 hours of kayaking will lead you through the most dramatic limestone formation, giant cave, beaches and hidden lagoons. Relax on the beautiful beach for swimming. Dinner and over night on comfortable and charming junk. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 10: Kayaking-Ha Long-Hanoi. Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the aquamarine water of the bay at its best. After breakfast and early swim, we continue for 2 hours paddling visit to the isolated beach, floating village. Meet the junk again for lunch while cruising back to Halong harbor. Transfer back to Hanoi by vehicle. Farewell dinner at the restaurant in town and overnight at the hotel in Hanoi. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 11: Hanoi Departure. Free until transfer to the airport for flight out. End of trip.
