Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: NAIROBI - Windsor Golf and Country Club

You will be met at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by a Sporting Safaris representative and escorted to your hotel, the Windsor Golf and Country Club. The drive from the airport will take about half an hour, passing first along the main Mombasa road into Nairobi, bordered on one side by the city's industrial area and on the other by the famous Nairobi National Park and Ngong Hills. Surprisingly soon after leaving the city centre you enter a well forested residential area before emerging on to the approach to the club. Beautifully designed in a country setting, the Windsor Golf and Country Club has to be seen to be believed. You will spend the next 3 nights here.

Day 2: NAIROBI

Golf at the Windsor Golf and Country Club. The latest addition to Kenya's golfing scene, Windsor Golf and Country Club is without doubt the most spectacular, and the ideal course on which to play your first round of golf. The 18-hole championship course was designed to international standard by Tom Macauley. Apart from its picturesque setting and meticulously maintained playing surface, the total length of 7,400 yards, a water surrounded 18th green and several other spectacular holes, make this a challenging course for golfers of all standards. Situated in nearly 600 acres of indigenous forest, the club and course occupy only 200 acres. A heated pool, squash and tennis courts, a driving range, bird watching (over 200 species have been recorded in the grounds) and a health club are all on offer to keep you occupied before or after golf.

Day 3: NAIROBI - Sigona Golf Club.

Sigona Golf Club requires a 40 minute drive from your hotel, but it is certainly a worthwhile journey as the scenic location of the course more than compensates for half an hour in the car. In recent years, the popularity of golf in Kenya has blossomed and Sigona is one of several clubs to have benefited. Extensive improvements to the Club house and a delightfully situated course have brought Sigona into the major league of Kenyan golfers.

Day 4: ABERDARES - Aberdare Country Club.

After a leisurely breakfast, it is time to depart for the Aberdare Country Club - a two hour drive away. The journey is a scenic one, passing through fertile land on which sisal, pineapples and it is claimed, some of the world's best coffee are grown. At one point, the road crosses Kenya's premier river, the Tana, the descent to which affords breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and, on a clear day, the snow-capped Mount Kenya.

About 20 km from your destination you will pass through the pleasant town of Nyeri, which apart from being the provincial headquarters, also has its own golf course. The founder of the scouting movement, Lord Baden-Powell, spent the last few years of his life here from 1938 - 1941 and is buried in the local church yard. After checking into the Aberdare Country Club, a sumptuous buffet lunch, famous throughout Kenya, awaits you. Over the next two days you can be as active or as relaxed as you wish.

The club has a quality and challenging 9-hole golf course with some of the holes commanding wonderful views of Mount Kenya. The club is set on a 1,000 acre property, much of which is given over to a game sanctuary where you can walk or ride from the resident stables. Two tennis courts, a swimming pool, a trout stream and even gliding from a local airfield are all activities on offer to keep you from the golf course. Cottage style accommodation with fireplaces and private bathrooms and the superb cuisine and service will ensure you enjoy your stay.

Day 5: ABERDARES

An option for day 5 is a visit to the Ark in the Aberdare National Park. After lunch at the Aberdare Country Club, a 20 minute drive into the forest will bring you to the Ark, a well appointed forest lodge overlooking a waterhole. Elephant, rhino, cape buffalo, giant forest hog, antelope, leopard, lion and even the rare bongo all frequent the water-hole and, with luck, can be seen through the night caught in the Ark's floodlights.

Alternatively, you can remain at the Aberdare Country Club and play a round of golf at the 9-hole Nyeri Golf Club.

Day 6: NAIROBI - Muthaiga Golf Club.

A two hour drive will bring you back to the outskirts of Nairobi in time for an early lunch at Safari Park Hotel where you will spend the next two nights. A new and spectacular development, the Safari Park Hotel boasts 7 restaurants, a casino, a huge swimming pool with waterslide, tennis courts and major other attractions. You are scheduled for an afternoon of golf at the famous Muthaiga Golf Club a 10 minute drive from your hotel. The beautifully designed 18-hole course is home to the Kenya Open Golf Championship, which annually sees an array of international golf stars compete for the winner's purse and a hole in one offer of a Mercedes Benz.

Day 7: NAIROBI - Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

Nairobi must be unique amongst the world's leading cities as within a 2 mile radius of the very centre of the city two golf courses can be found. The better of these courses, the Royal Nairobi, was established in 1906, making it Kenya's oldest club. The pleasant 18-hole course has a yardage of 7150 yds., and over recent years has undergone a major face-lift making it a delight to play. The club house, pro shop and restaurant have all been refurbished helping Royal to become one of Kenya's leading clubs.

Day 8: MASAI MARA - Masai Mara Safari.

Your two night wildlife safari to the Masai Mara will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your trip to Kenya. The Masai Mara, a 600 square mile area of wilderness given over to the animals that have made Kenya famous, is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. Over the next two and a half days, you will go in search of elephant, lion, leopard, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and a host of other animals and birds. Using your luxury lodge or tented camp as a base and in the safe hands of an expert driver/game spotter, your early morning and afternoon game drives will be experiences never to be forgotten. Well-appointed en-suite luxury accommodation, excellent cuisine and swimming pool will all ensure the best of both comfort and excitement.

Day 9: MASAI MARA

One option worth considering is a hot air balloon flight as the sun rises over the African plains. After floating over the most breathtaking scenery, with a bird's eye view of the animals, you will land for a full champagne breakfast before a game drive takes you back to the lodge.

Day 10: NAIROBI - Return Nairobi.

The drive or flight back to Nairobi and the Windsor Golf and Country Club will give you ample time to reflect on the wonders of the Masai Mara and the wildlife that has made it famous. After checking in, the remainder of the day is free to relax or prepare for your final three days of golf on the practice range. You will stay here for your last 4 nights.

Day 11: NAIROBI - Karen Country Club.

Following a hearty Kenya breakfast, a half hour drive will bring you to the delightful Karen Country Club. Karen is a plush residential suburb of large houses and mature gardens made famous by its early settler residents. Karen Blixen, after whom the area was named, had a farm here and her old house is now a museum in her memory. The Ngong Hills of "Out of Africa" fame can be seen clearly from Karen Country Club which is arguably the finest club in the country. Following a fire which destroyed the club house many years ago, a massive refurbishment and development of the entire premises was undertaken resulting in the outstanding and tasteful facilities which exist today. The beautiful and superbly maintained 18-hole course owes much to the magnificence of the indigenous trees found throughout its lengths. Apart from the excellent golf, Duncan Lindscott, the club's renowned professional runs the country's best stocked pro-shop on the premises.

Day 12: NAIROBI - Limuru Country Club.

A forty minute drive to the highlands above Nairobi brings you to Limuru. The area is fertile and scenic and will give you the opportunity of seeing at first hand both tea and coffee growing in plantations on either side of the road. The golf course is a delight, as is the old club house, with a log fire constantly burning in the hearth. Lush, green fairways contrast with the rarefied atmosphere of nearly 8,000 feet above sea level making the golf both challenging and rewarding. An option worth considering in Limuru is a lunch visit to old Mrs. Mitchell's farm house. Apart from her legendary home cooking, Mrs. Mitchell herself conducts a tour of the tea and woods on the farm.

Day 13: NAIROBI - Windsor Golf and Country Club.

Your final round of golf is just outside your back door. There is no better course on which to end your golfing safari to Kenya, so save your best round of the trip for one of the best courses in Africa. The remainder of the day is your own.

Day 14: NAIROBI

Packing and last minute shopping cannot be avoided before the drive to the airport for your flight home.
