All our tours start in South Africa in Fouriesburg, a small farming community on the South African – Lesotho border.
This three day tour will take us to the very remote village of Semongkong. It seems to be at the end of the world. The drivable tracks just end there. The mighty waterfall at Semongkong is one of the highest single drop waterfalls in Africa, and it creates a haze of “smoke” as the water plummets 186 meter into a spectacular gorge. It is from this that Semongkong, which means “The Place of Smoke” gets its name. Set on the edge of these falls is the longest single drop abseil in the world. Semongkong offers abseiling, rock climbing, wild trout fishing, pony treks, hikes, 4x4 routes, the Bald Ibis Colony, and a great variety of alpine flowers.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: We drive past Ficksburg in the direction of Clocolan and cross the border at Peka Bridge. From there we go in the direction of Maseru. From Maseru it is about 120 km to Semongkong in a South-Easterly direction, which will take about 3 hours. We will stop for sightseeing and lunch and arrive early afternoon in Semongkong, where we will have time for sightseeing around the waterfall. We will spend the night at Semongkong Lodge.
Day 2: Early rise, breakfast and time for sightseeing, pony trekking, hiking, abseiling, all according to the clients wishes. We have a lunch at the lodge or picknic en-route, depending on our activities. We have dinner at the lodge where we will also spent the second night.
Day 3: Early rise, breakfast and time for packing. We drive back to Fouriesburg and will spent time with sight seeing along the way back.
