Following the opening of the fabulous Albergo Italia, Asmara’s first boutique hotel we are pleased to offer our new Luxury Week in Eritrea tour. Perched on the eastern edge of Eritrea's 2,000 m highland plateau, Asmara enjoys a great climate, with clean and architecturally striking streets. Asmara represents perhaps the most concentrated and intact assemblage of Art Deco architecture anywhere in the world, with buildings attributed to the well known architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Its wide boulevards laid out by the Italians are a riot of color lined with jacaranda trees and bougainvillea.

So you get a real taste of the country we have included an overnight excursion to the town of Keren, which tries very hard to beat the laid back ambiance of Asmara. We have also included a day excursion by 4WD land cruiser east, towards the Red Sea coast. The drive is truly dramatic as we reach an altitude of almost 2,500 m and time for a picnic lunch. We will travel to Ghinda, which lies in a little valley that traps the warm, moist air from the coast and the terraced hillsides supply the fruit and vegetable to the markets of Asmara.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: London Heathrow to Asmara via Cairo.

Day 2: Early morning arrival Asmara. Airport to hotel transfer. Guaranteed early check-in. Overnight Albergo Italia.

Day 3: Afternoon half day city sightseeing tour. Overnight: Albergo Italia.

Day 4: Full day at leisure in Asmara. Overnight: Albergo Italia.

Day 5: Morning private transfer by 4WD to Keren (2 hours). Tour of the town and surroundings including the Commonwealth War Cemetery. Overnight: Serina Hotel.

Day 6: Morning transfer by 4WD from Keren to Asmara (2 hours). Overnight: Albergo Italia.

Day 7: Scenic day excursion (6 to 8 hours) east towards Ghinda. Complimentary picnic lunch provided. Overnight: Albergo Italia.

Day 8: Full day at leisure in Asmara. Overnight: Albergo Italia.

Day 9: Asmara to London Heathrow via Cairo. Late evening/early hours transfer from the hotel to the airport (room guaranteed for late departure).
