7.30am departure, returning to Auckland 6.30pm approx. Leaving Auckland we travel over the Bombay Hills, onto the Hauraki Plains. Our first stop is at the Kaimai Cafe & Store for a tasty cheese platter. We then continue over the very picturesque Mamaku Mountain ranges down to Rotorua. Then we travel to Rainbow Springs in time for the Kiwi Encounter Experience which allows guests the opportunity to learn about the kiwi breeding program. This includes a unique close encounter with Kiwis in captivity. After the Kiwi Encounter we stop for lunch. Thereafter, is the option of visiting the large and beautifully restored Tudor Bathhouse and Spa in the Government Gardens. This building was built by the New Zealand Government and opened in 1909 as one of the first international tourist attractions.
The second option is to visit the world famous Blue & Green Lakes, Lake Tarawera and Te Wairoa Buried Village outside Rotorua (additional cost). Following either option, we visit the Whaka Thermal Village and Marae on the outskirts of Rotorua. This is a thermal wonderland of geysers, boiling pools and steam vents. Guests are welcome to take a hot swim in Rotorua’s famous mineral waters at the Polynesian Spa Complex (recently voted by Condé Naste Travel Magazine as one of the top 10 spa complexes in the world). Fresh towels and excellent facilities are provided. The Polynesian Spa offers a range of massage, health and beauty treatments. Notes: These must be booked prior and are subject to the requested time being available. Guests need to arrive an hour beforehand to take their hot swim first. Suitable pre and post ship cruises. Notes: Note: Lunch and wine included.
