You can visit the castle itself as it has been turned into a museum. After your visit to Trakai Castle you will continue onto Grutas Park (Gruto Parkas). Considered a controversial idea by some locals, Gruto Parkas is the final resting ground for many Soviet Sculptures.

During Soviet times statues of Stalin and Lenin were placed anywhere of importance in the Baltic's. In town squares great big monuments were erected, in schools, libraries and hospitals, busts or smaller statues would be placed. After independence these were gleefully ripped down, only now to be collected together in one place. It makes for an interesting visit and also has a wonderful restaurant serving traditional and tasty food. Overnight: 4* Old Town Hotel

Day 4: At the hotel reception you will be met by our driver/ guide for your private transfer to Riga, the capital of Latvia, stopping to visit The Hill of Crosses in North Lithuania. How the Hill of crosses started is the source of some debate. The most popular idea beginning that crosses were left in memory of a group of insurgents killed in the 1831 rebellion against Czarist rule. Today thousands and thousands of crosses, big, small, simple or ornate reside on a small hill in the countryside. Its quite something to see and a very special place. Then its onto Riga where you will check in to the lovely 4* Garden Palace, where you will stay for 3 nights.
