The Summer Isles have much to offer, many little islands with sea cliffs around and a few really good spots for a picnic. On Tenara Beag you will find caves which can be explored by sea kayak and a natural arch. If the weather condition allows a trip to Priest Island with an overnight camp could spice up the journey. Around the Summer Isles you can find many sea birds and seals and if you are very lucky even some larger water creatures like dolphins, porpoises, basking shark or even a whale.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Book into the B&B in Inverness enjoy the beautiful city. This is an ideal opportunity to meet other trip members. We will also meet you at the B&B, go through the required kit and start packing so that we can have an early start in the morning with as little faffing.
Day 2: Drive to Achiltibuie, load the kayaks and paddle between 15 and 20km exploring the Summer Isles. If the weather allows it, paddle over to Priest Island. Find a remote island to wild camp, pitch the tents and cook dinner.
Day 3: After an early-ish breakfast explore some more of the Summer Isles and finish off in the late afternoon. Drive back to Inverness to stay for another night at the B&B.
Skill Level: This is a moderate sea kayaking trip which includes some exposed coast line. It is advisable to have an experiance of 4 days sea kayaking minimum. Being able to eskimo roll is not essential but knowledge in rescue techniques can help.
Kit list:
- Warm clothing no cotton T-shirts or jeans
- Change of clothing for after the trip
- Big towel for changing
- Bottle of water
- Warm hat
- Preferably wellies or old trainers
- Sea kayak
- Touring paddle
- Buoyancy aid
- Cagoul.

Sea kayaks, paddles, sprey deck, buoyancy aid and cagoul can be hired for £20 or £35 per day depending on quality of the sea kayak.
