Starting at the small village of Broadford in Skye the trip would take us along the coast of Skye and circumnavigate Raasay. After this if there is more time the coast south of Applecross and Plockton can be explored too. This is a combination of some of the best classic sea kayaking trips in the Scottish Isles and will leave a lasting memory. The coast around Plockton has many little islands and the train which is passing along that cost is rated as one of the most scenic train trips. However, you will hardly notice that there would be any transportation nearby at all.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Book into the B&B in Inverness enjoy the beautiful city. This is an ideal opportunity to meet other trip members. We will also meet you at the B&B, go through the required kit and start packing so that we can have an early start in the morning with as little faffing.
Day 2: Drive to Broadford in Skye, load the kayaks and start paddling, There are some tide races in the area and the first day sea kayaking will be according to them. In the evening lad on a nice Island most likely Raasay and camp there. Cook dinner and after enjoying the Scottish wilderness have a kip.
Days 3-6: These days are according to weather conditions. However, the usual plan would be to paddle around Raasay, then kayak to Applecross and maybe have a bar meal and grab the possibility to have a quick shower at the camp site. Continue along the coast to Plockton.
Day 7: Make that a shorter day to wind down and get back to Broadford. Drive back to the B&B Inverness to be there for dinner.
Skill Level: This is a moderate sea kayaking trip which includes some exposed coast line. It is advisable to have an experiance of 8 days sea kayaking minimum. Being able to eskimo roll is not essential but knowledge in rescue techniques can help.
