Day 1: Arrival in Sofia. Welcome and transfer to hotel Princess Sofia 4 stars in the center of Sofia. Brief sightseeing tour of the city center. Dinner in a traditional folk style restaurant with a programme. Overnight. Includes: (D).
Day 2: A tour to Rila Monastery (13th century, the biggest monastery on the Balkan peninsula) – 125 km from Sofia. Lunch. Transfer to Sandanski (95 km). Check-in at Interhotel Sandanski 4 stars. Overnight. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 3: Visiting Rozhen Monastery (12th century) and museum town of Melnik (12 km) lying amid picturesque sandstone rocks. Lunch and wine tasting at Melnik. After lunch transfer to Strumica, Macedonia (75 km). Check-in at hotel Ilinden 3 stars. Brief sightseeing tour of the city center, including monastery Vodocha and Veljusa. Overnight. Day 5: Transfer to Ohrid (Resen-Otesevo-Ohrid) (125 km), and visit the visit church and beautifully renovated monastery hotel complex of Sv. Naum. Original church and monastery was built in 900 by Sv. Naum a pilgrim and healing center in a church was berried Sv. Naum in 910, in a small beautifully frescoed chapel. Here are the springs of river Crn Drim. After a short walking tour we will have lunch at one of the many restaurants over viewing the beautifully lake view. Check-in at hotel Metropol 4 stars. Day 6: Morning sightseeing tour - Tour starts before the monument of St. Cyril and Methodius, and it continues to the Lower gate, City museum, church St. Sofia, Antic theater, Upper gate, church St. Virgin Mary, Perivleptos, The Gallery of effigies, Samoil’s fortress, Plaoshnik, and tour ends with waking in Ohrid Old Bazaar. Day 7: Visit the Struga (15 km) and the bridges over the Crni Drim River where the Struga Poetry Evenings (started in 1962) are held every year at the end of August. Afterwards a visit to the monastery complex of Kalishta, located right on the shores of the lake. After that visit the Vevcani village (5 km) and famous Vevcani Springs. Visit the monastery St. Jovan Bigorski, dates from 18th and 19th centuries and reconstruction in the 20th. Its most beautiful monastery in this region. Transfer to Skopje (100 km). Day 8: Visit the church St. Spas – built in the later 17th and early 18th centuries but its present day features date from the 19th century, its famous in the world for the wood carved iconostasis, the and St. Clemet Ohridski in center of Skopje, St. Andrew in most beautiful place in Skopje – Matka, and the church Pantelejmon, G. Nerezi – built in the XII century represent important monument from the Byzantine period. Lunch in Sv. Pantelejmon. After lunch visit the Markov Monastery. Day 10: Departure for Plovdiv (130 km). Sightseeing tour of Plovdiv, including the Old Town and the Ancient Theatre. Day 11: Breakfast and departure for Veliko Turnovo (the Medieval capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom). On your way to Veliko Tarnovo (175 km) you'll stop over at the Etara (a unique open-air ethnographic museum, where you can see how handicrafts workshops used to work two centuries ago on the basis of water power). Lunch and visit the Dryanovo Monastery (1845). Check-in at a hotel. Day 12: Sightseeing of the architectural and historical reserve Arbanassi with its Renaissance churches and stone houses (17th century) – one of the most attractive Bulgarian villages, situated on a high plateau above the ancient capital. Visit of St. Nickolas Monastery. Sightseeing Veliko Turnovo - visit the architectural reserve of Tsarevetz famous for its Medieval fortress wall and gates, with “Baldwin” tower, the ruins of the Palace and the ruins of the old church.
