Stobi was based 160 km. from Thessalonica, on the highway road Via Egnatia, which lead from Dunav to Egej. Thanks to the number of historical and literary documents, and evidenced archaeological material, obtained from systematic researchers of that place, urbanity picture of antic Stobi is completed. It’s architectural structure, organization of life, which speaks of one highly developed urban environment with high degree of progress. According to, some sources show at it’s beginnings much earlier in VII and VI century B.C., and that also supports the discovered bronze objects from the Archaic period, and also separated ceramic findings from the Neolithic and iron time.
