"Shoton" in Tibetan means sour milk banquet.As Tibetan operas are performed and Buddha paintings are exhibited at this time,it is also called "Tibetan Opera Festival" or "Buddha Exhibition Festival." The traditional way of starting the Shodon Festival is to show Buddha paintings.The main contents include Tibetan operas and gala parties,as well as dancing and singing,The Shoton Festival starts on the 20th day of the 6th month according to Tibetan calendar and lasts eight days.

This is a one of the special itinerary which named Shodon Excursion and our local Tibetan guide,driver will share the deep experience with you during the festival,you can take few options,fly from Kathmandu or Mainland China to Lhasa & by train to Lhasa.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1, 8th Aug: By train & arrive to Lhasa and transfer to Hotel O/nt Keychu Hotel.

Day 2, 9th Aug: Sightseeing. AM:Visit Potala Palace PM:Jokhang temple

Day 3, 10th Aug: Shordon Festival Begins. Drive to Drepung Monastery and to see the huge Thangka display and then contienu to Sera monastery's Thangka display,afternoon go to Norbu Lingka Palace (Summer Palace for H.H Daila Lama).

Day 4, 11th Aug: Shordon Festival. Excursion around Norbuling ka.

Day 5, 12th Aug: Shordon Festival. Excursion around Norbulingka.

Day 6, 13th Aug: Transfer to airport and train station.
